SPSGB Posted April 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2016 Okay, I understand food is a subjective area, but here goes. My only experience with RC was a cruise last June on Majesty. The food was decent but certainly nothing to write home about. The exception was the Chef's Table which was fantastic! Now I'm cruising in May on Freedom. Can I expect the same so-so food? I do plan to try a couple of specialty dining venues
M_BA Posted April 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2016 Food quality is quite subjective! It can vary based on a plethora of factors, including the palate of the cruisers. As Freedom is a new ship, I would expect it to be top notch. Remember, if you don't like something order another of something different. If you love an item, order seconds! Freedom was launched in 2006, so she is not too new at 10 years old. :) However she was recently refurbished and with the new addition of Sabor, her specialty restaurants also include Chops Grille and Giovannis Table - all very good specialty restaurant options in addition to the MDR. My bad, was typing on my phone and didn't the the suffix onto 'new'. LOl We did one specialty restaurant on our recent Liberty cruise, Sabor for lunch. It was decadently good! I also ordered a filet from Chops twice, and my wife once, from the MDR for $18.95, IIRC. the filet both times was superb.

dinosaurdem Posted April 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2016 Chops-very good Chef's Table-for the price, excellent. Better if not held in buffet and kitchen tour was not the next day. Giovanni's Table-several errors in food prep resulting in poor results, combined with rude and insulting manager, for whom several staff said they would not work or transferred out. 3CatsInMA Posted April 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2016 We rarely do the specialty restaurants these days so I can't address that, but I can say that we were pleasantly surprised with the windjammer on Freedom. The variety and quality seemed much better than other ships we have been on recently.
Biker19 Posted April 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) My only experience with RC was a cruise last June on Majesty. Can I expect the same so-so food? The menu in the MDR will be the same as other ships (except Quantum class, for now) but how that food really comes out can vary, sometimes a lot.
