Cool Cal cruisers Posted April 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2016 We are on the Crown Princess April 30 sailing and ending in Vancouver. Any recommendations on places to go? We are staying in downtown Vancouver for one night after the cruise, so we have from departure from the ship approx 9 am until noon the following day. Recommendations for restaurants and " must sees?"'in Vancouver? Many thanks

Recommendations for restaurants and " must sees?"'in Vancouver? Many thanks While certainly appropriate to post this on California Coast board (that's where you're cruising!) there is much more Vancouver info on the West Coast Departures, Alaska, and Canada/Pacific boards - so I would browse around there. Must See, Must Do, Must Eat - all relative. What do you like? What's your budget? Which hotel are you in? Can you all walk? A little or a lot? Would renting bikes work for your group? Are you outdoorsy or not? Do you like museums or galleries? Do you have younger kids you have to keep entertained? What kind of food do you like/hate and how much are you willing to spend on it? Without knowing more about you, 'musts' are impossible to recommend! Things you can do here that are unique or very hard to find elsewhere include Stanley Park, the Seawall, Dr Sun Yat-Sen garden, Japadog, FlyOverCanada, Gastown historical area - but whether these are the best things for you I can't say... Recommendations for restaurants and " must sees?"'in Vancouver? Many thanks There are many things to see and so in Vancouver some of which have been mention by MC, however one attraction that is extremely popular with tourist is the Capilano Suspension Bridge which offers a free shuttle to and from a number of downtown locations. A great way to see a lot of Vancouver with the time you have is with a HOHO tour; while they all do pretty much the same thing, the one I usually recommend is the Vancouver Trolley as they were the pioneers of the service in Vancouver, operate year round and offer live narration. As for restaurants, if would be helpful to know what hotel you are staying at and your taste in foods. https://www.capbridge.com/ http://www.vancouvertrolley.com/

Friday arrival.... drop off luggage at hotel. Which hotel have you selected? return to cruise terminal to catch Grouse Mountain shuttle. on return.... go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge as it's along the way back downtown. the two attractions should take the day.... if you find yourself with extra time.... Stanley Park! go for dinner.... too many choices. Seafood? Premium Chinese? Fly Over Canada operates til 9pm.... a good after dinner experience, otherwise a convenient pre-flight getaway. Putterdude Posted April 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2016 I would be a bit guarded about the Grouse Mountain recommendation a for the end of April only from a weather perspective. April is often a very rainy month and Grouse is all about the views out over the city.....so if its cloudy and threatening rain, look up toward Grouse Mountain and if you can't see the top of the mountains then save your money and don't go, you are not going to see a thing. I agree about Grouse Mt in April or May.

SadieN Posted June 12, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) This is good info that was passed down to us--- if you can see Grouse Mountain from Vancouver, go. If you can't, don't go. We went, nice in the city, freezing with snow on the ground at the top. Couldn't believe the amount of women who were wearing high heeled sandals at the top of the mountain. We were on a repo cruise the end of April in 2003. The Aquarium in Stanley Park is nice. Edited June 12, 2016 by SadieN
