Hi Everyone,

My family and I are scheduled to go on the Eclipse out of Southhampton on Aug 13th. We usually sail on Carnival and RCCL. This will be our first cruise on Celebrity. Last year we sailed on Alllure of the Seas out of Barcelona. Our son who is now 7 loved sailing on Allure of the Seas. We decided to book the Eclipse because of the itinerary. It goes to Russia and we have always wanted to go there. Has anyone on this board sailed on Eclipse out of Southampton with children. I am wondering if you could write a little about your experience on this ship with young children.

Thank-you!

We have sailed on the Eclipse from Southhampton and although we don't have children we did see a few as they were participating in a kids club scavenger hunt-seemed to be having a great time.

If you haven't joined the Roll Call for your sailing you may want to join and connect with others on your cruise who are sailing with children.

There will be considerably less kids on board Celebrity. That usually is a good thing because the kid's club staff can spend more quality time with them.

This will also be a very different cruise if you are used to Carnival and the big RCCL ships. You won't have announcements on the PA all day long. Just one about 10 a.m. for about 5 minutes. They assume you can read the 'daily' that is put in your cabin each evening and make your own decisions without constant reminders on the loudspeaker. There is no amusement park type stuff on a Celebrity cruise. By that I mean, no water slides, mini golf, flow riders, etc.

There will be no smoking inside anywhere at all, or on the balconies. This makes it nice in the casino and lounges and for sitting on your balcony.

The kids I've seen on Celebrity cruises seem to be having a great time. You're likely on a port-intensive cruise so it'll be different than one with a lot of sea days. In the Med a lot of times it's off the ship after breakfast and then back on just in time to change for dinner and show and crash!

You will feel more space. There is more of a staff to guest ratio so things just never seem crowded.

I do hope you have a great cruise. Sounds like an itinerary I'd love!
