Hi everyone

We are on this cruise in May

We are looking at shore excursions. Has anyone been on the Corinth transit and the day tour of Crete?

Any info would be helpful as we have not visited some of these islands

Hi

Have done the Corinth transit on Celebrity and loved the transit but the food on the boat was very disappointing. We also did it with Ancient Corinth

Re the Day tour of Crete - think we did this one last year. If it stays at a winery for food then go for it. The meal was amazing - a real highlight.

Did Corinth Canal two years ago when on Aurora. It was a fantastic day and our guide packed loads in. We didn't have a meal but there were plenty of places to eat and buy drinks etc. well worth the money.

Sorry never sailed to Crete.

We're just back from the very similar A608 and did the Corinth Canal transit excursion. It was very enjoyable and pretty good value, I think.

Just a tip on the catering side. Our day went - Coach to canal, 20 minute stop for photo-opportunity on bridge over canal, toilet facilities and time enough to grab a coffee or portable food, back onto coach, drive to boat, transit canal one way, turn, retrace steps, plastic cup of orange juice supplied, time to eat crisps, sandwich etc, back onto coach and off to Corinth, excellent guided tour of the historical site (you can miss this out and go to the shops/restaurants if you want but it seems a shame after the long trip), 20 minute break for museum visit, coffee, toilet, etc. Then, finally, back onto the coach and probably a 20 minute ride to a beachfront hotel for a very nice 3 course buffet lunch with wine and coffee and the chance to chill for a while before the ride back to Pireus.

So, we didn't eat between breakfast at 8-ish till the meal at 4-ish. Unheard of for cruise passengers! :)

My top tip would be to plan ahead and take something portable and non-fragile to eat whilst on the canal transit, just to see you through

Have a great time. We had fabulous weather and enjoyed all the ports (except boring, overcrowded, Gibraltar)
