MikeBTN Posted April 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2016 Normal time (1-2-ish) or earlier? Planning on arriving around 10:30/11 but would love to not lug around a carry-on too long.
iriefeeln Posted April 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Normal time (1-2-ish) or earlier? Planning on arriving around 10:30/11 but would love to not lug around a carry-on too long. You are escorted onto the ship and into the Haven lounge. Once you have boarded, you are then escorted to the cabin by the concierge and he/she gives their welcome remarks. At that time you can drop off your bags even if the room isn't fully ready yet and then you may go on your way and some food etc...This is done periodically as groups board .....so the answer to your question is; it depends when you arrive and board the ship. you will have access to your room at that time. At least that has been my experience the last few times I have traveled. I have always arrived prior to noon and after being escorted to the room, I drop my bags off. CP3o Posted April 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2016 I read some review that mentioned dropping off bags in room even though not "ready" yet, and I remember thinking that was different than other cruise lines , but maybe it was a Haven review I read. Does NCL let regular pax drop of luggage in cabin before they are secure? For those pax willing to chance no one will steal clothes and waterbottles? I assumed hallways closed off and this NOT allowed but did come across the reference in a review so thought I'd ask.....sorry to hijack thread. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app It depends on your cabin steward and how far along the prep process he/she is. The hallways are closed off but in the past I have been able to walk through and enter the cabin to drop bags (even when I was not in the haven). Some stewards aren't fans of this and will tell you the room isn't ready yet. Some are ok with it as long you don't interfere. They are super pressed for time to get things done. Your stuff should be safe. anything you are concerned about can go into the safe as well until you return to unpack.
sha32 Posted April 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2016 When we were on the Escape TA, we were in a balcony cabin, we asked our steward if we could leave one of the bags in the cabin, as they were not ready yet and he was totally fine with it. Rare BirdTravels Posted April 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2016 So,,,, your cabin steward who is looking for a big tip at the end of the cruise,,, is not about to say "no", no matter how inconvenient it is to have you tromping around while they are prepping rooms. The cruise director will make repeated pleas for passengers to enjoy lunch in the public areas until they tell you that the rooms are ready (1:00-1:30). So, be good guests and stay out until you are invited in. You are not welcome to drop your bags off early.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Last week on the Epic we boarded at about 1.30 and the notices on the entrance to the staterooms said that they were not ready so we did not try to go in. Once we were sitting in the Garden Cafe reading through the embarkation literature my DH noticed that it stated that we could have dropped off our bags. It did not matter hugely because it was not so busy and once we finished our lunch the room was ready anyway. It must make sense for organising the public areas during embarkation if some of the carryons are put in the rooms. sha32 Posted April 27, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) BTW, it was 13:30 we went to our cabin as we were told the cabins were ready, all the corridor doors were open and other peoples cabins were ready, that was the only reason we asked to leave a bag there! Mattib Posted April 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 28, 2016 Last week on Escape in the Haven we boarded the boat about 1130am, relaxed in the lounge, were told we could drop carry ons in our room which we did, and then rooms were ready just after 1pm fully.
