Janine 26 Posted May 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Hi all Im very much looking forward to my first cruise departing Marseille on the MSC Preziosa on the 20th May. Im taking my Mum as a gift for being such a fab Mum. we are both very excited and can't wait! I do just have one question regarding hair appliances, is it correct you aren't able to take your hair straightners on the ship or any other heated hair appliances? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Jan

It's a fire safety issue. Pete
Skier52 Posted May 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) I found this by searching the forum It's a post by MSC's USA office October 28th, 2013, 10:12 PM MSC Cruises USA Customer Care, MSC Cruises USA ~ verified Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL Posts: 569 Default Hair Straighteners -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote:Originally Posted by susyq Hi all. Also, just noticed somebody responding to a post about irons etc and he told a lady traveller that Curling tongs and hair straighteners were not allowed? Surely not? They are allowed on RCI ships and there can't be a lady on this planet who will go to a formal dinner without straightening her hair??? I can't anyway Hair straighteners are allowed onboard. Sorry for any confusion. Mikesa1721 Posted May 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2016 My girlfriend was able to bring her hair straightener onboard MSC Divina all 3 times we've sailed the Caribbean. We were told that it must have an auto off feature which hers does,,,,:)
ferniedog Posted May 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2016 I used my Ghd straighteners on divina, preziosa and Fantasia, never had a problem. Just remove uk plug adapter and us e the European plug socket
SuiteTraveler Posted May 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Since this is your first cruise, I think you should know that you will be in a very humid climate when aboard a ship with lots of wind when on deck. You can straighten you hair, BUT, if it is anything like mine, the straightening won't last at all - maybe 15 minutes to an hour or so as long as you stay indoors. Up on deck, forget about it. For this reason, I just rely on a blow dryer, barrel brush and anti-humidity hairspray when cruising (and even that doesn't help all that much. LOL!) Love2Cruz2015 Posted May 14, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2016 I always bring my Chi onboard, but I don't always use it, as the above poster said, it doesn't last long due to the wind and humidity. I've learned to go with the flow...crazy hair and all :D
Crzyfrk62 Posted May 15, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2016 I brought mine on board. I also have a heat resistant pad I lay mine on, inexpensive and keeps me from burning up stuff. The blow dryer was in the flip down drawer of the desk.
kcam7 Posted May 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 15, 2016 I always take my hairdryer, straightener and curling wand and never once had a problem. Enjoy your cruise Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Janine 26 Posted May 16, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted May 16, 2016 :mad:Thanks all for your posts. I have called MSC and they confirmed no heated hair appliances will be allowed on the ship, and have said if any found during scanning they will be taken and destroyed!
