lrockwitt Posted May 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2016 I just booked a World Cruise which includes Jordan and Egypt. How safe are these ports of call? My husband is very nervous about the threat of terrorism. The cruise is in January 2018. Has anyone done a World Cruise recently and how was security? I am thinking of maybe cancelling and booking another destination. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Working 2 Cruise Posted May 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2016 Middle East is a problem, undoubtedly. If there are major problems at that time, I'm sure Princess will adjust the itinerary. Who knows what it will be in 2018? No way of predicting this.
Lucky TGO Posted May 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2016 It's not worth going on any cruise. If I'm going to worry about how safe it will be. That just me. I hope you have a safe & good cruise if you go. Tony
moki'smommy Posted May 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2016 We've had ports canceled in Africa and most recently Turkey for "unrest." Most cruise lines are very aware of the political situation at the time of the cruise and don't want one of their passengers to be featured on the 6pm news. They will evaluate the situation and make a decision near the time. If you are uncomfortable, you can stay on the ship or forego the cruise. paul929207 Posted May 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2016 Princess has adjusted our itinerary in the past when conditions warranted. I have no doubt they will keep an eye on things for this cruise

Thrak Posted May 28, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2016 There are so very many places I haven't been where I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff. I see no reason to visit places where I am hated and not wanted.

Jbartholomew42 Posted May 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2016 Just got off a wold cruise. We had no problems. Jordan was not a problem, and we had a military escort through the Suez channel.

I really don't want to need a military escort when cruising!

I laugh every time I see your post. Your first drink will be on me. Tony
Brisbane41 Posted May 29, 2016 #15 Share Posted May 29, 2016 I am personally staying well away from the trouble in the middle east. There are far more peaceful and friendly areas of the world to visit like Asia including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China (probably polluted in many areas), then there is South America, the Pacific Islands which are all well away from the trouble spots.
