How is anthem of the sea

Recommended Posts

The Anthem is very good. We are on the July 23rd Bermuda trip. We were on the March 27th sailing and loved it. We did the Summit five years ago, loved it. It is a bit more upscale and there is not tons to do but still a nice trip. Have not been on Dawn, but was not crazy about Norwegian Breakaway.

It all depends on what you are looking for, who you are traveling with and the time of year.

We love Anthem class of ship. We just came off her a couple of weeks ago. We are in our late 50's and have sailed on her and the Quantum when the majority of kids are in school. In fact we have two more cruises booked on the Anthem.

I can not speak of activities for kids since ours are grown.

The Solarium is a nice place if you have inclement weather but it's usually off limits to kids.

I like eating in a different dining venue every night. We like the idea of not having a main dining room. Instead there are four complimentary dining venues each with their own theme and menu. There are several for fee restaurants if that is for your liking - our 30 yr old son and his girl friend just spent 9 nights on the cruise with us and ate in a different place every night....some were free and some they paid for.

You can always find a quite place if that is what you are looking for.

Most times there is always something to do or somewhere to go if you are looking to keep busy.

The Music Hall is a great place at night for dancing...the music will vary so check the Cruise Compass.

It's only 20 minutes to port for us which means no flying which is an additional savings for us.

FYI - between RC and Carnival we have been on over a dozen cruises - we haven't sailed Celebrity or NCL.

Overall I think the Anthem of the Seas is a good introduction to cruising.

we will be going to Bermuda on the Anthem in August and it will be our first time trying the Anthem. But just wanted to say the last few years we've been going to Bermuda on the Summit and always had a really nice time. We really like the 7 nights better than the 5 but wanted to try the Anthem this year.

We have never tried Norwegian but again, always enjoyed the Summit. Great ship, great crew.

We loved our cruises on Celebrity Summit. 7 days to Bermuda, which gives lots of time to really enjoy the island. The ship is older, but in good shape, mid-sized, and a more traditional cruising experience. The food is excellent, and so are the evening entertainment and the lounge performers. The only negative we experienced on Summit is the buffet.

We also loved our cruises on Anthem, but it is an entirely different cruising experience. Very innovative and non-traditional. Restaurant style dining and expansive buffet. There is a Cabaret style show and a London West-end Musical, but we felt that the evening lounge performers were less frequently scheduled and simply average. There are a surf simulator, bumper cars, and other "gimmicky" activities, which are fun to participate in, or to simply watch. There are only 5 days to Bermuda, which is less desirable, but still ok if you have a tight vacation schedule or wish to spend time in NY pre or post cruise. You also are encouraged to make dining and entertainment reservations, which makes the planning a bit more "work".

I don't think you can go wrong with either ship. During the summer, there will be plenty of kids on both.

I would choose the one which is less expensive, or whether you want the y day Bermuda cruise versus the 5 day Bermuda cruise.
