We cruised the May 24-31 (tues-tues).

Elegant nights were Wednesday (25th) and Saturday (28th).

Disembark was VERY fast. They unload from the bottom up for decks starting with Diamond, Platinum, FTTF and self-assist. We were on Deck 7 and our group (had Carnival take our bags off) was listed as as 8:15am. We were in the cruise terminal by then. We grabbed our bags, passed quickly through customs and got on our transport bus before 9am.

You said Carnival took your bags off, is this luggage express?

May 24-31

I noticed you said in the end that you only had three hours in port, we didn't depart until 10pm, I think you were on a different cruise..

While we did probably miss some announcements due to not hearing them from inside our cabin / getting the door open quickly enough to catch it; but we were in the theater at 12:30 (the appointed time for our excursion booked thru Carnival).

We were told there several times " It won't be long" " "just waiting on clearance from local officials"; then hearing the anchors drop; then more of the same announcements. We boarded the tender (somewhere around the tenth) and there was talk of the CG delaying dropping anchor.

Then again, my wife was given a $25 Wine Card. We picked up a bottle at the candy shop (Chilean Merlot, probably 7.99 in a store) to bring home and took it back to the room. Sometime later I was passing thru and heard a fellow trying to use a card and was told they didn't sell red wines there!

Go back and read what I wrote. I said THREE LESS HOURS IN PORT! We left port at the STATED TIME! Your wife got a wine card and we got jack. I don't need the freebies, I want truth. Carnival will never own up to it. It's okay, I've got the wallet and choose when and who I cruise with. Frankly I'm not cut out for screaming kids any more or insolent teenagers.

/I'm done

Not sure if they call it "Luggage Express". We chose to leave our large bags in the hall the night before and Carnival took them into the cruise terminal for us. We were in group 10 and were off and through customs very quickly.

You have two choices when debarking. Self assist you keep your bags and take off yourself when leaving. The other choice is to put your bags outside your door the night before you leave and employees take off ship for you. You will pick them up after you debark the ship. Luggage express is offered some ports. You pay $20 per person to ship your luggage to the airport for you. It also provides your boarding pass. I have read that this has been discontinued by carnival. I would check.

Where was the Muster Drill at.....and how long was it...My wife has knee problems and can't stand to long....I have been on some where the drill was in the theatre where you sit down.

Ask the crew for assistance if she cannot stand long. My Mom is 90 and they were very helpful with getting her a seat for the muster drill. She was able to take the elevator, also.

We just used luggage express in April and it was the best $20 spent that week, I hope they aren't discontinuing it.

I hope they don't too. I know some ports it isn't available. We were going to use it in Fort Lauderdale in March and we were flying Southwest. The cutoff time for a SW flight was 6:00 p.m. and we weren't leaving until 9:00 p.m. Glad I read someone's post about that cutoff time or I wouldn't have had time to make alternate plans. We ended up with a day room and it worked great.

I read a post by someone who said they were discontinuing the program. That's why I said to check.

Congrats on your anniversary. First let me say that our group was very low maintenance. We are not real picky. With that said, the the ship was good. Some say its gaudy, but to me I didnt care what it looked like. It was fine to us. Buffet food not real good, but there was always something to eat. Dining room was very good. Even on cruise elegant night there were many dressed down. It's so casual, which we like. The second elegant night there were a bit more dressed up but we didnt.

Our problem is we didnt bring enough tshirts. We didnt wear many of our nicer shirts. Cant tell you about the entertainment since thats not our thing. We had NO rain the entire cruise. Ketchekan was very cloudy and a bit of mist. Its like we were "in" the clouds.

I hope you have a fabulous time

This is fabulous. My husband is hoping to not have to pack a suit and tie. He would like to just take khakis and polo. Great tips on tshirts.

Thanks. We cannot wait.

This will be our first Alaska cruise ... DH is dragging heels, but to see our newly son & his wife as family cruise going. Anyone in your group ho hum on Alaska idea & change their tune?

What time do you think boarding started, and how did it work getting off to get to airport? (Assuming we are using non Carnival shuttle.)

Any heads up would be great.

P.s. Any motion sick causing seas? Heard first 0-36 hours are iffy sometimes being outside passage.

Appreciate anyone chiming in.

Leave the suit and tie at home. He doesn't need it. Carnival doesn't require it in the dining room even on formal nights. :)

Leaving your bags in hall night before s standard method. Luggage express was service one paid $20 ($30 more recently)originally for early escorted departure , and once put bags in hall did not see them until home airport, also received your airline boarding pass too. I read a rumor it was no lway Niger being offered as of May, excuse was TSA or something. Not verified though, have loved using it when it was available.

We were both excited before and it did not disappoint.

Not sure when boarding started but we were slave to the airline schedule. There were problems with the cruise port's systems later in the process 2-3pm so lines grew. They wound up putting us on the ship without photos and tried to catch them as we entered the ship. We were a bit late leaving because of a medical emergency.

We took the Carnival shuttle and were off and to the airport extremely quickly. Probably at airport before 10am.

Motion sickness was non-existant for us. We took a Bonine pill each morning but probably didn't need it. The biggest risk is indeed the 1st 36 hours as you pass to the outside of Victoria Island. We had some very minor movement as we headed back to Victoria also but nothing at all like the Caribbean gets.

I have all the Fun Times but didn't post because someone already did.

Please read through the other posts. There's a link to Shutterfly where they are all posted.

Remember though, our trip (May24-31) is a unique itinerary and I don't think Carnival is duplicating it this summer (Glacier Bay). They do go to Glacier Bay in September but it's Seattle - Vancouver.

For those who did the Chef's table, where was it held?

We met at the lobby bar for the chef's table. We were taken to the galley then had dinner in Medusa's Lair. The Chef's table was quite popular on our cruise. There were at least 3 different seatings. We had 14 in our group.

Ive never posted a review and dont have time to jot down all my thoughts right now. We had a fabulous time. We started the cruise in an ocean view cabin. We were below a night club that was loud until pretty late at night so we asked to be moved to another room in our category. There were no ocean view cabins available and we decided to stay where we were. The next day guesr services called and asked if we were interested in moving to a junior suite!! We said yes, of course. We would have been content in our ocean view room - it was what we booked- but we were so thankful for the unexpected upgrade. Guest services treated us lkke royality from that point on. Our children received stuffed animals one day, we were co stantly being checked on, we even received minetary compensation for the days we were in our original room. We were blown away by Carnival's customer service. I fully believe the only reason we were offered rhe upvrade is because we presented our request in a kind and respectful way. We honestly would have been happy to be in our original room.

The ship was a bit gaudy to me and showed its age. I'm not one to get caught up in the details so none of that bothered me. It was fun to explore. I dont think there are any public spaces we didnt see.

We had fantastic weather. I was so excited for all the warm sunshine! Port times were adaquate and getting on and off the boat was easy.

We had late dining. We wanted early dinibg but booked quite late. I thought the food was ok, not as good as previous cruises, but I found plenty to eat. I did not care for the buffet for lunch. We never had it for dinner. Our staff in Truffles (Fernando, Vlad, and Alben) were most excellent.

Because we had late dining and young kids we didn't go to any shows.

Our kids loved Camp Carnival. They begged to go back each day. It was fun to get the crafts each day.

My husband and I enjoyed the Chef's Table. If you choose to splirfe on the chef's table remember tonoace yourself. You'll want to leave room for dessert!!! It was a fantastic experience for us. The food was top notch woth service to match!

We didnt do big excursions because of our kids. We went on bus tours with Alaska Shore Tours in juneau and skagway. We rented a car and toured ketchikan ourselves and enjoyed driving theough the mountains.

We did have to cruise Endicott Arm instead of Tracy Arm. That change didn't bother me. We loved Glacier Bay. On our cruise days we saw lots of wildlife - killer and beluga whales, sea lions, mountain goats. Be sure to bring binoculars.

If you have specific questions Im happy to answer!!!

That is the cruise I'm going on. I found the shutterfly link after I posted, but they were to small for me to read. It's ok though, I'll just wait til I get there. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
