MAC Machine/ Casino Currency

Recommended Posts

We are sailing on the Jewel out of Rome in July. Does anyone know currency what the MAC machine on the ship dispenses? What currency the casino accepts and dispenses? Also, if anyone has been to Europe lately, do the ATM machines there all require a card with a chip to dispense cash? Thank you for any information.

I have a card without chip and have not had any issues at ATMs in Europe (...so far). Some merchants however have no idea how to process non-chip cards and tried to use the chip reader of their POS, but in most cases managed to finally pass the card using the strip (only a couple of them had a machine with no magnetic strip reader)

Have used my BoA ATM card in Europe and have gotten the per ailing exchange rate with $1 on a $200+ transaction. So it's a good deal[emoji12][emoji12][emoji7][emoji7]

Thanks, all. Appreciate the answers, and am still wondering if anyone has used the ATM machine on board. I need to pay the private tour guides in Euros, and so I need to figure out the best way to get them. So far sounds like ATMs in the ports are the best option, but I do have a daily limit.

I would also recommend using ATMs in the ports, especially those that are part of a bank if possible. I've found the ATMs on the ship to be out of order from time to time.

The ATM in the ship casino gives USD. I believe they can change the ATM near Guest Services to give Euros, but I'm not sure this is the case on all ships.

I have used the ATM's on board and I also recommend that you use the ATM's in the port, not on the ship. First, they only dispense USD and while Guest Services can exchange currency, the exchange rate is worse than what you will get at the ATM, in my experience. Another option if you have time is to order the currency through your bank or AAA. That only works if you have time though!!
