thyme2go Posted June 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) I've been trying to coordinate Juneau and there are many docking options in that port. So I'm specifically trying to find 'exactly' where the FKL (Franklin) dock is as that is our location the day we arrive. Franklin street extends quite a ways south of the main town. On the cruises mentioned above June 5 and 22.....the ship was moored at FKL. Other dates it is in other places including today when it is a mooring buoy and tender ride. If you were on either of these cruises can you tell me how far from the Red Dog Saloon were you? How long to walk that distance? No, we aren't going to the saloon.......but it is a good reference point for most folks! Thanks for any help here......we've been there many times but the rotating schedule for mooring is a bit confusing and Juneau can tuck ships into some creative locations............ confused: Thanks in advance!! The BarCarres Posted June 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 24, 2016 It's about a 10 minute walk to the Red Dog. Once you leave the ship everything is quite close including the tram. The Mt Roberts tram is quite a ride, glorious views. We bought our tickets at the excursion desk on board. That saved us a bit of time. Enjoy the trip every day of ours brought gorgeous views and Vistas. Joanne
thyme2go Posted June 24, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Thanks Joanne, We've been to Juneau before but always (luckily) docking at the library so very close to everything. With gimpy partners we can probably make it to our meeting place......just want to get off the ship fast and hobble along the walkway!! Yes, we've done the tram and it's best to wait until you see the weather in Juneau. Many times the top can be socked in with clouds which deprives people of the beautiful views! So a good day is a great day to ride the tram!
