Main Dining Room Attire

On Ovation of the seas, they also included "no ripped jeans" which I found strange.

Probably because there are designer jeans that are made to be "distressed" from the start and have "rips" already put in - they aren't "old" or "dirty". And because they are designer people wear them wherever.

Looks like I mistakenly hit a touchy subject. Thanks for everyone's answers. So it sounds like jeans are fine?

My husband wears a shirt and tie to work every single day. I'm not trying to break the "rules" but don't want to make him completely dress up if not necessary.

Thanks again!

I think you will be fine. Pants and a Polo shirt are usually what my hubby wears....I wear sun dresses as its just easy and comfy. enjoy :D

I wasn't being catty or rude, but MDR is far from upper tier. Very far.

Perhaps for some people, penciltwist, but for a great number, it is a fine dining experience.. Not everyone walks in your shoes.... Be a little more thoughtful, and less belittling.. JMO

Stop being silly and stop pretending cruising is some alternative universe where usual rules don't apply.

Average waiters serve average food to average people.

When they make the food better on formal night,I'll dress better on formal night.i remember when you got steak and lobster on formal night.

I agree 150%. The attire should match the quality of the meal, not exceed it.

I think what folks are saying - Basically what I'm reading/hearing is that you can wear anything and RCI won't enforce it. Sad really. If you want to wear shorts, tank tops and flip flops, you can do so because it's your vacation and you paid for it.

I do want to mention that the MDR is fine dining. Would you feel comfortable going to a fancy restaurant in shorts? However you answer that question is your answer.

This is by far not fine dining in the least.

A nice pair of shorts (hubby wears golf shorts) is fine.

If I want fine dining I go to a 5 star restaurant on land, not a cruise ship.
