We are new to Celebrity having previously sailed with Princess and Cunard. We have a few questions that we hope the good people on here can answer. We are going on the Constellation round trip from Abu Dhabi in December.

How formal are cruisers on Celebrity?

If we book excursions can we cancel them at a later date?

Thanks.

There are no formal nights, suggest you look at the stickie re evening chic fir info. Some do still wear formal. On other days it's just like princess e,g no shorts in dining room etc

Excursions can be cancelled and refunded but has to be at least 24 hours before but best to read the terms and conditions on celebrity website

You will find Celebrity is know for having excellent food of all the mainstream cruise lines.

Celebrity has modified its formal night policy. A 14 day cruise will have 3 formal nights. Formal night one meant tuxedo or minimum a suit for men, formal dresses for women.

It was changed some months ago to be evening chic, which did away with minimum suit or tux. Now men can go with a sport coat. Dress should be a little above the normal, but it is more relaxed. Some people will still wear suits and tuxes, but probably not as many.

You can cancel excursions later, but don't wait until the last minute. I think the cancellation deadline is 24 hours prior to the excursion.

Where is your first cruise?

If you preorder your excursions, the tickets will be in your room waiting for you upon boarding. On the ticket will be the LAST day that you can cancel. If you miss that date, you will not get a refund. So beware of that.

The last post was confusing. There are no formal nights any longer. The name is changed to "chic nights". That means many things to many people. For gentlemen you might see dress jeans with a sport coat or sweater on a cool itinerary. You can find those same jeans or khakis with a nice Tommy Bahama shirt in the Carib. Definitely sport coats do not have to be worn. (A few people still find it hard to leave their dark suit at home. ) Women's outfits vary a ton too. From a nice dress to slacks and blouse. No gowns and few sparkles. But from what we have seen on the last 3 X cruises since the change, people are just wearing "nice" outfits. Nothing stood out. Looking around the dining room didn't make one recognize that this was a "special" night.

That all being said, if someone wants to really dress to the nines to make the night different than others, no one will stop you. Except to compliment you on how nice you look.

Have you joined your roll call? You may find there are already private tours being organised which may be of interest to you? Additionally, the roll call will also be a good place to find out the type of 'chic' clothing which is actually being worn on your particular cruise ;).

We sail on both Celebrity and Princess. You will find passenger dress and formality on both lines about equal. Each line has their pros and cons and I like them both. However, if given a choice, I prefer Celebrity over Princess, but that is just me. We have cruised on Constellation twice and she is one of our favorite ships with a fantastic Captain.
