just booked a free CAS cruise from new orleans (dawn) to mexico/western carribean. (inside cabin)

my free dining is only 3 days. :(

when did it go down from 4days?

on the plus side, tip is only $12.

i'm thinking te $50 shore excursion promo is a better value? (this cruise has 4 ports: Cozumel (Mexico); Roatan, Bay Islands (Honduras); Harvest Caye (Belize); Costa Maya (Mexico)

what do you think?

oh.. tip on the UBP is now ~$99?! geez! i remember when i was $79 last year and included more stuff.

(CAS = free drink card at casino bar, which is all i need.)

The NCL shore ex are overpriced--you can do better privately on CC's sister site, Trip Advisor.

Go for the dining IMO.

I personally would take the dining package over the shore excursion credit. You can book your own excursions a lot cheaper than the NCL excursions. We are going on the Getaway that has the same itinerary and are planning beach days only in a couple of the ports - with the excursion credit the money would be forfeited. For me, I feel like I would end up spending more money just to use the $50 promo and wouldn't have as many options since you have to choose a NCL excursion.

The speciality dining is a treat for us. In the past we usually only eat at one speciality restaurant through out the week - with this promo, I'm excited to eat at some of the restaurants we haven't yet tried.

Definitely the dining. The shore excursion credit is not great. In the first place, excursions are generally cheaper when done outside of NCL. Secondly, you only get $50 per port to spend on a single excursion. You can't combine all four credits to get $200 to spend on one excursion.

Yes, this.

Specialty dining definitely the better choice. The port excursion allowance is a waste...overpriced and limited in use.

Does it end up being a 200 credit and it doesn't matter if you do 1 excursion or 4? Or do they enforce 50 per port and if you only do one you get $50?

It is $50 per port, use it or lose it. Take the dining package (though you will have to pay 18% gratuity on the value of the package).

was it free 4 days dining last month and went down to 3 days this month?

(thus i missed out by 6 days? :( )

I originally booked my upcoming October cruise this past January and had 4 SDP, when I changed my booking in April I lost a night so it was definitely changed a while back (might have actually been in March when I read they were changing from 4 down to 3 nights)

The first two guests receive 3 meals on 5- to 9-night cruises and 4 meals on 10+ night sailings. Applicable service charges apply

another vote for dinning for sure
