Hi My husband has a knee replacement and needs another soon. Looking for a nice beach day at a hotel with pool. All input greatly appreciated!

The only hotel with a pool that does day passes for the beach and pool is Coco Reef. They have been charging $69. That includes lunch and a drink. Reservations are advisable.

Just an FYI. 'Mobility Issues' would mean no beach at Coco Reef; very steep and a lot of stairs. I do not remember seeing any ramps to get to the pool; there are several stairs down from the patio and another set of stairs to get to the patio. Good luck.

We have reservations at Elbow Beach for the day. Just e-mail the resort's reservation department. The charge is $100.00 for two chairs and one umbrella. I believe that these are the only two resorts that allow day trippers.

Besides the two chairs and one umbrella, what else do you get?

Wow! Does that allow you access to their pool and other amenities?

At the Coco Reef Resort for $69pp you get use of their changing rooms/bathrooms, their pool, a lounger with a small table and umbrella at the pool, towels, use of their beachfront with loungers and umbrellas, plus a 2 course lunch with a glass of wine or a beer.

When I went there 3 yrs ago it was at the bargain price of $50pp, but it's still a bargain @ $69 and we made reservations as soon as we booked our upcoming cruise to Bermuda.

$100 just for two chairs and an umbrella to sit on the beach with nothing else is ridiculous IMHO!

Yes a bit much, but to further confuse the issue someone on one of the other threads this year reported they rented chairs and an umbrella for $75 from a concession on Elbow Beach. All I can think of is that $100 might be by booking directly with the hotel. If you go to the beach you might get the lower price.

The $100 charge might have been booking through Resort for a Day website. We did day pass for Coco Reef and while there I walked over to Elbow Beach. I spoke to staff at the hotel beach concession (just to the left of the restrooms facing inland) and was told I could rent 2 chairs and an umbrella for $75 per day. I tried to make a reservation but they do not take them. We went back the next day around 10:30 and were escorted to chairs and umbrella on the portion of the beach closest to Coco Reef. They also provide very nice towel covers for the lounges. Cost was $37.50 per person and if add in $30 for lunch, cost is comparable to Coco Reef. No pool access, but they do have restrooms and changing facilities at the beach - at Coco Reef you have to walk up stairs to the pool area for facilities. Elbow Beach has food and beverage service on the beach as well. There is 1 flight of stairs from the taxi drop off location down to the beach level which may impact those with mobility issues. Both resorts were great!

I booked it directly with Elbow Beach reservations in Bermuda. Since there is such a scarcity of resorts willing to allow day trippers, I thought this would be a great option. Just want shade, a comfortable chair and our toes in the sand.

Children of that age are free at Coco Reef. They even supplied towels for all, which we could switch out as needed and we had use of their pool and changing/bath room Lunch for the children was a separate charge. FYI don't order chocolate milk. It tasted like call hot choc mixed with water. Blech. We could eat outside on their beautifully shaded patio wearing beach covers. It had a wonderful view also.

We are paying to stay the night at Fairmont Southampton , not sure if we will actually sleep there (vs sleeping on the ship) but we will have access to all their amenities for 2 days and my experience with Fairmont is that they would be very accommodating for any mobility issues.

Seems strange to book an expensive hotel room to use while on a cruise to Bermuda. You should mention how much you are paying for the room.

If I am reading your post correctly it sounds like your experience with Fairmont was with another Fairmont property. Correct me if I an wrong. It may not be a good idea to assume how good the hotel is for accommodating mobility issues if it is based on experience at another property.

The Fairmont Southhampton is a large property. It is not on the beach. It is on the other side of the South Road from the beach. And up a large hill. Their beach is next to Horseshoe Bay. To get to the beach they provide shuttle buses as walking there is problematic. The pool is on the main property. You don't walk from the pool to the beach.
