Seattle Embarkation for UK passport holders.

Hi

I have just completed check-in for our forthcoming Celebrity cruise to Alaska. I was a little concerned to read on the Celebrity web-site after checking-in that any UK passport holder travelling to Alaska will require a Canadian visa to be allowed to embark - I had already checked this with the Canadian gov web-site and noted that a visa is only required if arriving by air , not if arriving by sea. I telephoned the Celebrity help-line to ask about the discrepancy and was told by the representative that her information was that a visa would be required , but she suggested that I should also check with a Visa requirement company (whose details she provided).

On telephoning that company it was confirmed that no visa was required; I am a little concerned though that given both the Celebrity web-site and its employee seem to be of the view that a visa will be needed I might have issues when trying to embark.

I should be really grateful if any UK passport holder who has recently embarked in Seattle could let me know if they had any difficulties, please?

Many thanks for any info.

I would also be grateful for any information on this point as we are in the same boat as Serras (no pun intended)!

We've investigated and know that we do not need an ETA to enter Canada by sea and as such would be in a difficult position if Celebrity do require this paperwork.

Can anyone help?!

Thanks!

Hi

Thank you for your help - I also have the Canadian gov advice printed and am keeping my fingers crossed! I considered obtaining visas "just in case", even though I know we shouldn't need them but the gov web-site doesn't allow me to do that, so I don't think there's anything else I can do!

Maybe this information is out of date, (2009)

U.K. Passport holders on Princess cruises out of Seattle. Evening stop at Victoria. 6pm to midnight. No Visa required.

Your information is not out of date. People traveling on British passports need no Canadian visa on cruises to Alaska.
