thames_side Posted July 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2016 QE 16th Sept to Canaries. Does any one know what is the name of the port we go to in Lanzarote?
Mid-Atlantic Ridge Posted July 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Arrecife, there has always been a shuttle bus service to take you from the port to the edge of the town when I have been there. There is a small car hire depot but otherwise the port is very basic with no amenities. M-AR
cruiseluvva Posted July 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2016 We called there on QV in May. There was no shuttle provided and everything was closed!
berpat Posted July 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Cruise ships moor up At 'Los Marmoles' which is quite a distance (on foot ) from the centre of Arrecife. If there are no taxis or shuttle busses available I suggest you stay on board unless you are exceptionally fit !!!:
Adammara Posted July 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Some of the tours are intersting, but Arrecife does not wow us! Certainly would not pay for a shuttle, been there, got the T shirt:)
Host Hattie Posted July 14, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2016 We've seen quite a lot of the island on holidays so we used the shuttle bus (there was one from QM2 in November 2014). We had a pleasant stroll and lunch.

thames_side Posted July 14, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted July 14, 2016 Yes, been to Lanzarote twice before. Reckon it's stay on th ship day. Could do the shuttle to Puerto del Carmen but I reckon I might get bored after 3 hours, Anybody done that?
cruiseluvva Posted July 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2016 We called there on QV in May. There was no shuttle provided and everything was closed! AND it rained! Really, really dreary.
Adammara Posted July 15, 2016 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2016 I would prefer an overnight in Funchal instead!
Fifer Posted July 15, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 15, 2016 We were due there on QE last Christmas; however, strong winds prevented us berthing. Some would say this was a narrow escape - and we got a proper sea day and not just a 'stay on the ship' day.
thames_side Posted July 15, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted July 15, 2016 We are getting an overnight in Funchal but, strangely, no call at Tenerife. Not that that worries me much.
SPacificbound Posted July 15, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 15, 2016 To each his/her own. Though stark we thought the island beautiful. Some photos if you are interested. http://www.jeannietx22.com/rccl-lanzarote-island-an-island-of-spain/

Like you we found the volcanic landscapes which we drove through quite amazing, we also visited a vineyard and stopped halfway for an excellent lunch. Superb value at €45 for the day. Don't stay on board, get out and explore!!

I just hired a driver/guide for Lanzarote, and I can't drink wine, but close. :) Edited July 15, 2016 by SPacificbound
