Does anyone have experice with cruise waitlist - not dining time

Just got added to waitlist for January Hawaii cruise. We originally had reservations but had to cancel. Now we are able to go. ( I know, I should not have cancelled). So I paid the deposit and when I look at the booking, the price of the balcony waitlisted room is almost twice as much as I originally booked at. When the rooms become available, I am hoping the rate will be more reasonable. Any thoughts?

I think the price for waitlist, is only a place marker price. Since there are no cabins available, there is no pricing. Once you clear the waitlist, the price should change to an actual rate and you can choose to accept it or cancel and get your deposit back. That's the info I was given.

The fare will be expensive if you get a cabin. Way more than you originally paid.

Choose a different date on Carnival. Princess might have something out of Los Angeles or San Framcisco.
