BEENSAILING Posted July 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2016 This is from the News section of Cruise Critic: Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The parent company of Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises issued the following statement: "After reviewing all of the available information, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has decided to cancel our next three calls to Turkey." Vision of the Seas, which was scheduled to call at Kusadasi July 19, will visit Chania, Crete, instead. Brilliance of the Seas also will replace its July 20 Kusadasi call with Chania, Crete. Celebrity Reflection, due to visit Kusadasi July 24 and Bodrum July 25 has adjusted its itinerary to call at Rhodes July 25 and Sicily July 27. BEENSAILING Posted July 19, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted July 19, 2016 Other cruise lines cancelled their Turkey ports after the last airport terror/murderers in Istanbul. Some cancelled after the Istanbul airport attack before that.
Sunny AZ Girl Posted July 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2016 We are watching the events carefully as we are hoping to still be able to call at Kudusai next October (2017). I am beginning to doubt that we will be able to see Ephasus at all.:( Too bad as I have been really looking forward to it, but we will make the best of it no matter what. I just hope that if they do plan to cancel all Turkish ports that we will have enough notice to make plans at another port.

BlueCollarCruiser Posted July 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2016 Don't know who would want to sail intentionally to that part of the world right now but smart move by RCCL

I'm on Rhapsody, scheduled to stop in Kusadasi on July 31. No word yet on that one. RCCL says they will let us know but since its only 5 days until we board, I wish they would let us know before actually getting on the ship!! I have a car pick up scheduled and would hate to leave him hanging if I didn't have to. Plus since I am actually leaving for Venice day after tomorrow, I don't have a lot of time left to be contacted!

We are on Jewel next week stopping in Kusadasi, and no word on that either- we are in the same position and need to know how to proceed. Would like to know which port we may be visiting so that we can set up some other tour or plans.

RD64 Posted July 20, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2016 State of emergency declared for Turkey for the next three months. I agree it is very frustrating - leaving on Saturday (Friday from North America) - really does not leave any time to make alternate arrangements for another port. Last weekend they said that Kusadasi would be dropped for Chania, Crete. If anyone hears anything official please post.
