HELP PLANNING 3 day BERMUDA ITINERARY

Traveling with husband and 2 sons (15 and 18) aboard the Summit in a few weeks. We will have just about 3 days in Bermuda (first time visiting). Looking for ideas for making the best use of our time.....

DAY ONE. thinking of taking the first possible ferry to St. Geroge (what should we see, are the caves nearby...worth seeing, how about Fort St. Catherine...thoughts?).

Back to ship for dinner then ferry to Hamilton for Hamilton Nights (too much in one day?)

DAY TWO, we rented a Boston Whaler for 4 hours (9-1) to explore, snorkel on our own. Any suggestions on what to see/where to stop on boat? What to do with the remainder of the day?

DAY THREE, boarding is at 4:00. Thinking of getting an early start to Horseshoe Bay then the Dockyard. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any advise!

Day 1: The caves are about a 20-25 minute bus ride (quicker by taxi) from St George. If you haven't visited any caves in the states, you should enjoy a visit to the Bermuda caves.

Walking tours for SG:

If you really enjoy old forts, Fort St Catherine would be a good choice, and you could do Fort Hamilton in Hamilton City.

If you do the caves, you'll have to make a decision on how to get back to your cruise ship at the Dockyard. You could bus into Hamilton (about 30 minutes travel time) and board the ferry from there to the Dockyard (20 minute travel time), or you bus back to St George and board the ferry from there to the Dockyard (45 minute travel time). The only downside in returning to SG is that the ferry from SG to the Dockyard runs only 3 times in the PM - 1, 3:30 & 5:30.

As for too much for day 1, for me, it would depend on the time I finished in SG/caves, but your boys are young enough to handle a long day, are you?

Day 2: Can't help with the boat rental, but when completed, you could do the Dockyard and/or visit the National Museum of Bermuda.

Day 3: Looks good; take an early minibus to Horseshoe Bay and return. Oneway fare is $7P/P.

There is a map and 'to do' list available if you think they would help.

Thank you for the advice. We have done caves here in PA. Think we'll cross that off the list.

  • 2 weeks later...

When we rented our Boston whaler, we beached it at the old 9 beaches resort and had a picnic lunch and did some snorkeling and exploring. The place has been deserted for a few years. We also fed the fish at an old shipwreck. When you rent the boat you will be given bread to feed the fish. Just cruising along the coast and seeing beautiful homes was fun. We rented for 2 hours, I think.
