Getting from terminal 5 to 3 at FCO?

How easy is it to get from Terminal 5 Arrivals (American Airlines) to Terminal 3 Arrivals (Delta) at FCO? We are traveling with friends that will arrive at 5 about an hour before we arrive at 3. We want to share a car and are deciding if they can do this okay or if I need to schedule a double pick up with the driver. If we do that I have to use a different company as the one we are using only does one pick up spot.

There are free shuttle buses running to and from T5. But we have never heard of flights actually arriving at Terminal 5...since this is used as a special security check-in facility for flights to the USA and usually Israel. Once cleared through the check-in process at T5, passengers are then bused over to one of the main terminals where they actually have the gates. If your friends are flying into FCO they will likely arrive at T3.

Hank, thanks for the info. They say their itinerary from American shows them arriving at Terminal 5. I think I'll call AA and check with them. I haven't known anyone else to arrive at that terminal either but most of the ones I know don't fly AA to Rome.

We flew AA PHL → FCO in June and arrived at T3...
