Murphey Posted August 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2016 We are currently booked into a Caribe deck balcony for a New England cruise. These two cabins are available. I love true aft balconies and have one for the cruise right before this one. I have seen pictures of these balconies and to me they kind of look deep and dark. As in, when we are in our cabin will it look like we are looking out a tunnel? I can't quite make it out from the photos. I kind of like the idea of some protection from the weather if it gets iffy on this itinerary. Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. MJC Posted August 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2016 Perhaps if you title your post Aft Balconies on Grand Class ships, you'll get more answers. Members who have been on one of the several sister ships and cousins to the Crown might chime in. I'd be interested to hear an answer to your question, too. f-mattox Posted August 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2016 I see an E735 but no E736 on Crown Princess. But to answer your question; I love the aft balconies on the Grand Class ships. I especially like the Vista Suites. The balconies are rather deep and this does make it a little dark inside the cabin; but I really like the coverage of the balcony--shade when you need it and protection from bad weather. It is a trade-off I admit; I've been in cabins with shallower balconies and they are lighter with a more airy feel. But I usually do warm weather cruises and I do like the additional sun protection of the deeper balconies.

MJC Posted August 15, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) It took me a bit to find it again, but here is a thread devoted to aft cabins: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=808951 Here are photos of E734. E735 would be mirror image: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=31533356&highlight=crown+e734#post31533356 Edited August 15, 2016 by MJC

cactusrose Posted August 15, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 15, 2016 Because these balcony cabins are surrounded on three sides by walls and the balconies are deeper than the normal balconies it will be a bit darker in your cabin. That being said I have one on Dolphin deck booked for a Canada New England cruise in October and we are looking forward to having the shelter and the great views. Murphey Posted August 15, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted August 15, 2016 Thanks folks...appreciate all your comments. Still trying to decide whether a side view might be better....but too hard to pass up an aft balcony. Thanks again!
