bryanjaync Posted October 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2005 Does the dining room on the Westerdam have viewable dessert trays? Might not be the right term, but it is a tray of the different desserts for the nights so you can see them before choosing. (Soemtimes menu descriptions just cannot do them justice !) In other land-based venues a waitperson will bring around the tray before taking orders, or the 'tray' will be outside the dining room for viewing before entering. Just wondering
azuregazr Posted October 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2005 I have never seen a dessert tray on any of the cruises I've been on. That would be a nice feature though, at least it makes choosing one over the other easier. Why not just order one of each?:p
WindyCity Posted October 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2005 On the Westerdam last December, there was a tray of the night's desserts as you entered the dining room on the lower level off to one side.
obriendan Posted October 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2005 On the Maasdam in August, similar to what WindyCity said, there was always a tray with sample desserts at the entrance to the dining room. Frequently our dining room steward would present this tray whan we were selecting our desserts.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2005 We haven't had a dining room steward bring a dessert tray to the table since HAL started cutting back on staff after 9/11. But on all the ships we have been on lately - quite a few different ones, the desserts are either displayed on a table as your enter the dining room or they are in a case to the left and right of the doors. Howdy Posted October 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2005 On the Zuiderdam this past May, they also had the desserts displayed as you entered the dining room.
KalenaD Posted October 28, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 28, 2005 on the Zaandam in april, our waiter would bring a tray to our table before we ordered dessert.

I always take a good, long look at the desserts on my way to the table. It always helps to know the destination when planning the route! :D
JimVrhovac Posted October 29, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2005 When you enter the dining room look to the right or left of the door as they generally have a dessert tray setup there. If you don't see one ask your waiter to see the dessert tray prior to ordering dessert... Third choice is order one of each dessert to see what they all look like.. lizzielady Posted November 1, 2005 #10 Share Posted November 1, 2005 At each dinner our waiter, Sudana, brought the tray with the desserts. He took each one off the tray and showed it to the guests at the table as he explained contents and made recommedation, etc.
