july2012 Posted August 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2016 My friend and her family booked a ship to leave this Sat 8/27. She is in a cabin with her husband who has now decided to not go. She thinks she purchased insurance... Should she call now and use her insurance to cancel or just have him as a no show on Sat during check in? riffatsea Posted August 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2016 I'd just leave it as a no show. As a solo traveler the price might be more than you think and his just deciding not to go is probably not covered under insurance. Usually there are specific things that are covered like illness. RuthlessBoss Posted August 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2016 Why cancel? Too late to get a refund.
Schoifmom Posted August 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2016 She should leave it as a no-show. If he cancels, she will then have to pay the single supplement, which is equal to his cruise fare. They will refund his port fees. If he has a reason to cancel that is covered by insurance, and that insurance would also cover the cost of the single supplement because of his cancellation, only then would I cancel. They should be aware that they will be out-of-pocket for the single supplement until the insurance reimburses them.
