fishywood Posted August 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) With Easter coming a bit late in 2017 (Sunday April 16) those dates are the peak of family vacation, not college. In Florida most universities break either the first or second week of March. A few in the snowy Northeast US will wait to nearer Easter to insure better weather at Spring Break destinations. South Beach hotels are well out of most college students' budgets, even those with daddy's plastic. But the week before Easter the beaches will absolutely still be rammed with baking bodies all day and the streets with cruisers all night. Age, nationality and status irrelevant. Even with the Miami Beach Police declaring zero tolerance on open containers after 1AM if you have a hotel room facing Ocean Drive you will not get much sleep. If you were expecting lots of spring breakers on your concurrent cruise, my guess is that the teens will outnumber the fratboys. No less obnoxious a group even without the drunk factor. eandj Posted August 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Those dates in South Beach/Miami Beach will be mobbed with bodies. It doesn't take spring break visitors to turn the beaches into party time. Great people watching ahead for you. I'd advise staying a couple blocks off Ocean Drive. Or get yourself some ear plugs. Many young adults travel to Vegas on vacation. But they will hang out at particular late night clubs and pools. They aren't hanging out on the sidewalks. BlueHerons Posted August 30, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2016 Its just that I saw a South Beach spring break video - didnt look the greatest place to be! Atleast we will be prepared! :-) College kids cannot afford South Beach on Spring Break so more than likely you saw some other event. Also, the drinking age is 21 and everyone is very strict about that. You will be here during peak season so expect heavy traffic, crowded beaches, and long waits for good restaurants if you don't have reservations.
