4 or 5 star hotel Tampa to Miami

Hello,

I've searched the boards, but haven't quite found what I'm hoping for. We live near Tampa and will be driving to Miami the day before our cruise. I've seen lots of hotel requests for inexpensive hotels, but we're looking for a bit of a splurge. We're saving up! We want to stay near Miami (less than an hour drive from the port) in a 4 star hotel, possibly with a club level. $200-$300/night including all resort fees, taxes, etc. We want a beautiful hotel, but also one with an excellent and friendly reputation - nothing cold and stuffy.

Can anyone give any recommendations?

Thank you. :-)

The date you are looking for is critical information (that I have no clue of even after scanning your posting history). During the peak season $200-300 is nowhere near splurge level, will get you at best a no-frills 3-star motel.

Within an hour drive of PortMiami runs a huge gamut of location types and attractions. Are you interested in being near the beach? In an area with upscale restaurants? Near high-end shopping or other leisure activities?

We're cruising in June 2017. I know area hotels are expensive, which is why I thought we might find something on our way to Miami, rather than in Miami itself. None of the other details matter: by beach, shopping, etc. We just want to relax in a nice hotel and make our drive a little shorter on the day of the cruise, rather than driving the full 4-5 hours the day our cruise departs and risk running into traffic delays.

I know everyone has a different idea of what splurging means, which makes this post a little subjective. If anyone has any ideas, I'd still love to hear about special hotels that you've enjoyed in the past.

Check out the Ritz Carlton on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Approx 1 hour to POM (depending on day of week).

Lots of places in SoBe that should fit your bill.

10 minutes from the port. Plenty of restaurants for the evening dinner.

If you're coming down west coast and then Alligator Alley, once you're past Naples there's nothing until you hit the MIA area.

Last minute travel will usually have the Four Seasons on Brickell for $200 in June. It's an amazing hotel and will be close to the port.

They currently have The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne for $224 but beware that there is a $40 per night valet parking charge and $28 per night resort charge.

The Four Seasons in Coconut Grove can also be had in that price range.

JW Marriot Marquis can usually be had for that price during June as well.
