Breakaway this weekend

We are sailing out of NYC this Sunday. Will we be able to watch as we go out of the harbor or will the muster drill be going on. Other cruises they did muster before we left dock and

I'm hoping it's the same. Thanks!

My first sailing last October on the breakaway the cruise director seemed to be short , sweet and to the point and he released us relatively quick so we could get to where we wanted to be for sail away and I was located in the atrium so had to wait for the elevators with the masses. This past May we also were in the atrium however the cruise director went on and on and on...I have been on quite a few cruises and this was a very long mustard drill. Many of the kids and even a lot of the adults had lost interest in what she was saying. The staff as always was hustling so not sure what the issue was in keeping us so long. Unfortunately by time she released us we missed being where we wanted to be. The masses all ran to the elevators and took at least 20 minutes for us to get an elevator. To be fair....my mom couldn't stand for long periods of time so she had to keep going back to rest. This is one issue I prefer CCL.....they waited till after sail for mustard drill.

BA should be sailing at 4 PM. All of the guest services will be stopping at 3 PM and the mandatory safety drill conducted at 3:30 PM - just report to your designated assembly station (no need to bring your life jackets, just your guest keycards to be scanned by the "vested" crew members taking digital attendance) and it is usually done within 10 to 15 minutes.

If you are gatheringin/near the atrium lobby area, try to get there a little early but it's mostly standing room only and packed with folks, wall-to-wall. The worst part are trying to get into those FWD elevators, packed full. Walk & use the AFT elevators or wait a little - the ship sail at 4 PM and there's plenty of time before it backed up & turn south on the Hudson for the sailaway. Typically, 30 minutes before reaching the SOL & another 30 minutes before going under the VZB out to sea.

Look around & mostly behind the ship, don't be surprised to see fast NYPD patrol boat and/or USCG boat providing armed escort as they will likely be out in full force tomorrow (we've done sailing on and around 9/11 out of NYC before, one year - they're onboard ... the Dawn then). Ship will sail very close to SOL on starboard side.

9/11 - never forget ... and, we're there in downtown Manhattan & still nearby when the twin towers fell. Those memories are never lost nor forgotten, friends perished.

When we were in the Haven in April we mustered in the Atrium. It was the worst place - packed with so many people that you could not see or hear anything if you wanted to. We also had to stand the entire time - so plan for this if this is your muster station.

Edit - got the cruises mixed up LOL - we mustered in the Atrium when we were in the Spa Mini - in the theater when in the Haven.

Don't forget that if you need/want to get in a lift quickly... work out which way most people are going (up/down) and then get in a lift when it's going the other way, even if it's not the way you want to go.

It'll just be a little longer ride for you, but you'll already be in the lift when it goes past the floor you got in on [emoji847]

Muster is earlier, before sailaway. NYC had the most beautiful sights, with the skyline, Freedom tower, then Lady Liberty. But the greatest is going under the Verrazano bridge!! Unbelievable sailaway. Enjoy and be out on deck

Safe sailing

For us, this is the highlight of the start of an enjoyable cruise.
