shalomy Posted September 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2016 What are the options of travelling from Southampton airport to the cruise terminal? And which one would you suggest? I'm travelling alone.
John Bull Posted September 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Depending on which cruise terminal and how mobile you are with luggage, cheapest for a singleton is the train. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ Southampton Parkway station is just a hundred yards or so from the airport's single little terminal. Trains to Southampton central approx. every 15 minutes, journey time about 10 minutes, fare £3.70. Access to trains (with luggage) is very easy - no more than one step up. Then a 15 minute level walk to City cruise terminal (berth 101), or 20 mins to Mayflower terminal (berth 105/6), or 25 mins to Ocean terminal (berth 46). QE 11 terminal (berth 39/40) isn't sensibly walkable due to distance & docks traffic. Ship schedule at http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/live_information/shipping_movements_and_cruise_ship_schedule/cruise_ship_schedule/ If your cruise is next year, it's likely to be the same cruise terminals. Or a taxi from Southampton central station to any cruise terminal costs between £6 and £10 - whether you choose to walk might depend on the weather. All very laid-back & civilised, not like arriving at zoos like Heathrow. Alternatively, a taxi from the rank at the airport to your ship is about £20, or about £15 if pre-booked eg http://www.westquaycars.com There's also a frequent bus service to central station (and onward to the Oceanography Centre, close to Ocean terminal) http://www.unilinkbus.co.uk/service.shtml?serviceid=3887 but it's primarily for university students & the route is slow & convoluted in order to serve the uni's buildings & halls of residence, and I wouldn't recommend it. Bob++ Posted September 14, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2016 If it was me, with cruise luggage, I would definitely spring for a taxi - prebooked as above.

John Bull Posted September 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2018 How much for a taxi for 5 from Southampton airport to the royal caCaribbe cruise terminal. Thanks A regular taxi from the rank at the airport around £20 / £22. or pre-booked eg www.westquaycars.com about £16 / £18 But for 5 + luggage I guess a small wedge more - and worth pre-booking to be sure that there's a suitable vehicle available, rather than two taxis JB :)
