CarlyDawwg's Ma Posted September 21, 2016 #26 Share Posted September 21, 2016 Glad to hear the water levels are up and the cruise is back on! Must offer kudos to Viking for keeping their passengers informed in advance of the trip and laying out the options for their guests.

Rare notamermaid Posted September 21, 2016 #28 Share Posted September 21, 2016 Hello beemer2, Concerning Elbe water level: Assuming a deposit has already been paid for a 2017 Elbe cruise what rights do I have to either change the date of departure or to change Viking cruise without losing money? Ian As you are in Scotland EU/British rules apply to you. Viking UK should give you these on the Terms & Conditions page. That is different from Viking.com. If you have booked through a travel agent you might want to contact them. notamermaid

Even the generally very good UK/EU consumer laws are not going to be a lot of help this far away from your actual cruise date. Right now your rights and expectations are set out in the Terms & Conditions you agreed to when you paid your deposit, and in short that would be loss of deposit if you cancel or possibly a small admin fee if you make a request to change the departure date or even request that you move to a different cruise and they are able to accommodate your request. The best thing really is to call them and talk about your concerns and see what they can do that will help you avoid the penalties of cancellation. Sooner the better really, once you are inside 70 days from departure the penalties for cancellation go up considerably and of course the final payment will be due as well... Caligirl72 Posted September 26, 2016 #30 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Thank you to everyone! The river level is up! Ship is sailing!! Thank you again! I was wondering if you were able to sail the whole time. Looks like river levels are down again. We are booked on same cruise Oct. 15 but we booked on a promotion where we can get a full refund if we cancel for any reason. We don't want the bus tour so trying to decide when to pull the plug....Would love to hear how it went and if the Oct. 1 cruise is sailing. Thanks!
