Chops, Now 42 dollars

Curious as to what "value" everyone puts on the included MDR dinner as they add the additional say 35 - 42 dollars each for specialty dining? As we know the MDR is included in the cruise fare so when people say "40.00 for a steak dinner is cheap", shouldnt we add in an inferred value of what we are not utilizing with respect to the MDR dinner that you did not attend that evening?

Interesting idea. Never thought of it in that fashion to be honest but there is validity in the idea.

As I recall, according to Royals annual statements, the food cost per day is around $15 PP, so maybe $7-$8 for dinner.

Guess we'll have to hit up Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil in San Juan prior to our February Jewel cruise to solve my steak fix. All you care to eat for the same price as Chops!

I love Texas de Brazil. It's my favorite restaurant. One opened here a few months ago. It is better, to me, than any steak house I have been to. I am hoping that Samba on Allure is nearly as good, but I haven't tried it yet or heard of anyone who did so.

I would compare MDR as a middle of the road chain, so $20-25 a dinner. So a perceived increase of $10 for Chops is acceptable to me. At $42 a pop now, the only way I can see us eating there going forward is through a dining package where the average cost is lower and we have OBC to burn. It's good. It has never been great and once or twice it was terrible.

Portofinos/ Giovanni's is still a great meal at a good price. If I want sushi, I will hit Izumi. Sabor holds no interest.
