njguy_south Posted September 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2016 Hi. Has anyone seen the hallway leading to the newly created single ousides (category KB)? Does it open directly into the photo gallery? Specifically, will the doors in middle cabins open directly to a view of the Golden Lion Pub? Also, has anyone been inside these cabins? Are the bathrooms spacious? Or is the shower a tiny stall, as they are in most of the Brittania class? Is the closet and drawer space generous? Does anyone have any personal photos of the cabin? Thanks!

Thanks! Have not seen inside the new solo cabins on QM2 but here are some pics of the ones on QE which were also added in lieu of part of the Casino http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2392935 see #4 Have added on this post 2 pics of the bathroom which was standard size and plastic shower curtain with fixed shower head, however this may have changed on QM2. Also copy of Cunard Deck 2 solo stateroom rendering. Edited September 17, 2016 by Pennbank

Hi njguy_south, From photos I've seen there is an end wall to the new photo gallery with tall display cases on it. It looks as if there is possibly one (closed) door into the cabin corridor that is presumably an emergency exit only. Given the noise that the people in the Golden Lion Pub generate on occasion, or just the general sounds of passengers in the public "centre-line" passageway, I would have been staggered if they'd not built a private, secluded corridor for the new single cabins. I'm on board in November and will be taking photos of the area. Best wishes.
Rare Scrapnana Posted September 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Always be sure to check the cost of the solo stateroom against the price of a regular one with the single supplement. I have found a number of times that the solo stateroom was more than a regular (and larger) one.
Host Hattie Posted September 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2016 There are some photos of a new single stateroom in eroller's great collection of post remastering photos. QM2 1st August page
njguy_south Posted September 18, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Thank you for the replies. The photos are great! I did consider I could get a hull-balcony for thensame price, but as anyone who has ever had a cabin on the QM2, the "hallway walk" can be a real hike, especially if running back to the cabin for something. (The new singles are closer to most things.) Also, the shower stalls in the Brittania class cabins are nothing short of appalling. Barely room to bend down to wash your feet and having to fight with a plastic shower curtain. These new singles have larger showers with glass enclosures. This is the sort of luxury one expects on Cunard.
Host Hattie Posted September 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Let us know what they are like to travel in, we haven't had first hand reports yet. They certainly look great and very convenient for all the deck 2/3 public rooms.

And nowhere to put shower gel, soap etc... One thing I love about the QM2 showers in Britannia grade cabins is that you can stand back out of the spray if you wish. Try that on QV & QE and you'll be sitting in the sink... Edited September 18, 2016 by pepperrn
