WIND: Tropical storm conditions are expected on Bermuda by Friday evening. RAINFALL: Karl is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 1 to 3 inches over Bermuda through Saturday and early Sunday. SURF: Swells generated by Karl are already affecting Bermuda and are expected to increase during the next couple of days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

Not a word from NCL nor anyone on the BA this week about any early departure to outrun the storm, which is going to pass the island on the right, sweeping west to east & away. It's a tropical storm and locals are pretty used to it - not a big deal, likely.

Just looked at the latest BDA local marine forecast, inside the reef tomorrow - seas and waves will come along with the wind, etc. - nothing that the Breakaway cannot handle safely, maybe some minor rocking & rolling for a few hours to get out of harm's way.

Oceanweather's marine data for waves in the Atlantic suggesting 10' to 15' seas - no monster waves to really worry anyone. Fools would jump into the waters to attempt to swim in beaches with high surfs and rip currents being forecasted.

What's a few inches of rainfall for the residents ... great for their underground wells.

Heard from my daughter yesterday who is on the BA. All aboard was changed from 2:30 to noon today and they are departing Bermuda at 1:00 instead of 3:00 due to the weather. She said the water at Horseshoe yesterday was crazy rough

There is a very specific shipping lane through the reefs you take. The Costa Concordia is an example of what happens if you take a short cut.

"Short cut" LOL. He was doing far worse, hot doggin' and showing off.

NCL Dawn, May 2015, is an example of what happens if you aren't very exact in your Bermuda departure!

Oh yeah,,,, I forgot about that. We were on the Dawn last week,,, should have checked for holes when we were on the lower decks when we did the behind the scenes tour.

LOL!

By the way, Karl was upgraded to a Hurricane as it passed by Bermuda. I exchanged messages with someone on Bermuda today and they said the island had to pretty much shut down for the day!
