PTCruizer Posted September 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I am looking to choose between these two cruises and would like feedback on which itinerary you would prefer. I know what I need to know about the two lines and ships so I'm really only interested in the itinerary. Thanks. TheCalicoCat Posted September 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Glacier Bay - I didn't even have to look at the other one.
mapleleaves Posted September 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2016 The NCL stop in Ketchikan is mighty short .... maybe 4 or 5 hrs. Does that give you enough time for planned activities ? Both have a late start in Juneau .... so again think about your planned activities.

This could be a big factor in your decision making.
Sequim88 Posted September 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Tracy Arm can have ice issues that early in June preventing entry - or entry very far. Sometimes requiring an alternate glacier visit. Dates for NCL aren't stated but if later in season there are small boat excursions to Tracy Arm from Juneau so combined with Glacier Bay you could get both. Either way plan at least a couple days pre or post cruise in Seattle - lots to see & do. Pre-cruise is usually better as a travel disruption safety cushion. Rare Coral Posted September 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2016 I think they are both weak schedules but the Solstice is the weakest of the 2.
PTCruizer Posted September 24, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Thanks for the input. I realize that these aren't the best options for Alaska but the price is right. They are both casino offers and the only dates available for Alaska so we'll use this as an intro and plan a better cruise later on. I think that we will go with the NCL and Glacier Bay. Thanks ya'll.

Also, I strongly recommend a one way cruise our of Vancouver instead of a RT out of Seattle. You get to see both Glacier Bay and Hubbard and have a chance to see something in the main part of Alaska after the cruise (like Denali, which is fabulous). Upper Deck Dad Posted September 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2016 Seattle fly out 8:00 am I think its a little early . I agree with lag9122 - The Pearl doesn't get to Seattle until 8am on Sunday. I would try and schedule the flight for the earliest at noon just to be safe. Personally, I would even make it later than that.
