Anyislandwilldo Posted September 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2016 We dock in Juneau at 7:00 am. Does anyone know what time the tram opens? We would like to take the tram up before our tour starts. Also, how long does it take for the tram to get to the top and then back down to street level? TheCalicoCat Posted September 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Here is the website - it has a telephone number & contact information, but does not list hours... mountrobertstramway.com
lovescruisingbc Posted September 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) I believe the tram starts running at 8 am, and you would want about an hour to get to the top, see the views and get down again, depending on crowds and line-ups. That being said - Juneau has several docking berths and one that involves tendering, so depending on your cruise line and how many ships are in port that day, you may not be next to the tramway itself, and you may have to wait in line for the tender. We have always been lucky with HAL and always docked close to the tramway! When will you be in Juneau - there is a website that gives the cruise ship schedule so you which ships will be docked the day you are there.. if there are only 2 or three you should be close to the tram. It is well worth the ride as the views are terrific! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited September 28, 2016 by lovescruisingbc
Sequim88 Posted September 28, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Here is a link to cruise ship schedules for various ports. Oddly it is a Ketchikan web site but has links to all the ports. Really handy for seeing how busy a port will be on a given day. Also shows which dock a ship will be at. At Juneau AS is Alaska Steamship dock, AJ is Alaska Juneau and CT is Cruise Terminal. Schedule is 2016 but will probably be updated in 2017. Schedules

mamasylvia Posted October 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Just a heads-up, that 2017 link gave me a "No such page" error. When I replaced the s...s in the URL bar with support-files the pdf file downloaded fine.
Budget Queen Posted October 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2016 The tram is a 6 minute ride. This loads and unloads very quickly and even if "lines", only, minutes of wait. The operating hours vary. Call next year about a week before you go and get the direct information.
xlxo Posted October 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2016 In addition to operating hours..... there's the unpredictable weather and low clouds.... Depending on where you dock and how close you are to the tram.... I would try the tram when you've finished all your excursions. However look up for clear skies before purchasing tickets.
