How many pax?

Shared shuttles are $17/pp

Private van is $86

Black car (Execucar) is $55

Taxi is $75

Uber

Lyft

The cheapest would be the Flyaway $8/pp. drops off at the Long Beach Transit Center. Need to figure out transportation to your hotel.

I am always tempted to say...

The CHEAPEST way is to walk! Probably take about 8-10 hours...but it's absolutely FREE! :) :)

Of course, nobody is really looking for the "cheapest" way...What you want is the most efficient and practical way...

I usually rule out any public transportation option because few people really want any hassles like transferring from one bus to another or walking any distance...

Assuming that you, like most, would prefer door-to-door transportation--where you get picked up right at the terminal and dropped right at the front of your hotel, the shuttle option is cheap enough...There are several shuttle companies that operate at LAX and all are about the same price for a shared van--about $17 per person. Super Shuttle and PrimeTime shuttle are the two largest and you can get them with or without an advance reservation. If you don't pre-reserve, when you get your luggage and step to the curb outside baggage claim, you will see a small round sign for Super Shuttle and Prime Time Shuttle and each usually has an agent standing nearby. Let them know what you need and they will find you a van. If there is an issue with the shared shuttle, it's that they try to fill the van before leaving, so you may waste a bit of time circling the airport picking up others and you may make other stops on the way to your hotel...But it is fairly cheap at $34 for two--plus a small tip.

If you want to avoid picking up or dropping off others, spend $55 plus tip on Execucar--reserved through the Super Shuttle site...You will have your own car and driver...Requires a reservation and calling them after retrieving your luggage...

Uber MAY also be a cheap option...but I've often had trouble getting an Uber at LAX...and you could get hit with "surge pricing" if arriving at a busy time...

You can also use ontime1.com with a town car for about $55, and they are very reliable, very clean cars and courteous drivers.:)

Thank you for that information. This looks like a an attractive option for us, since we are a family of 3 and would be already be paying $51 for a shared van shuttle, but I have a question: When you book ontime1 from LAX, do you choose the meet and greet or the curbside option? And, if the latter, how do you find your driver? Also, for pick up time, do you put in your flight arrival time, or something like 30 minutes later? We will have checked luggage to retrieve.

We have used both meet and greet and also met them curbside. At curbside they had a sign with our name. We also let them know what our scheduled flight number is and arrival time. They will monitor the flight. You can also call them once you have your baggage and are at curbside. We have always had excellent service from them:):)
