LOL HAL = Holland America Line - A brand owned by Carnnival John Heald is the Senior Cruise Director / Brand Ambassador for Carnival and is quite popular on Facebook where he posts all kinds of things. (including items that originate here on Cruise Critic) He is a huge interface between cruisers and corporate. redhot77 Posted September 30, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) Hey Carl (NightOne), This might be crazy ---but when I lived in Memphis in the late 80's and early 90's, I had a friend named Holly. We used to hang out with a guy named Carl. Wouldn't that make for a smaller world? Edited September 30, 2016 by redhot77

redhot77 Posted September 30, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted September 30, 2016 TA is travel agent but what is PVP? :o Is this specific lingo to Carnival? How do I know whether my person is a PVP or a TA?
Schoifmom Posted September 30, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 30, 2016 TA is travel agent but what is PVP? :o Is this specific lingo to Carnival? How do I know whether my person is a PVP or a TA? A PVP is a Personal Vacation Planner and they work for Carnival. They're kind of a travel agent only for one cruise line, if that makes any sense. They're kind of handy to have, will take care of all kinds of booking/pricing/accommodation issues for you.
nwcruiselover Posted September 30, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 30, 2016 PVP = Personal Vacation Planner (works for Carnival) TA = Travel Agent (doesn't work for Carnival) TA is also short for Transatlantic when people are talking about TA cruises

Rare pyropoodle Posted September 30, 2016 #16 Share Posted September 30, 2016 You didn't ask yet, but a B2B is "Back to Back" as in cruising a back to back cruise, usually on the same ship/possibly same state room...as in I WISH I could book a B2B or a B2B2B2B2B ahhhh, that would be the life.

drerickson77 Posted September 30, 2016 #20 Share Posted September 30, 2016 I think it could also be DotD, if we get super technical about it :D And that's the beauty of acronyms. They mean different things to different people. While you probably were referencing the Drink of the Day, my reply to the Sir who worked in the Defense industry was regarding the Department of Defense. The DoD. :)
