lenbest Posted October 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2016 Taken from MSC brochure:- In principle, smoking is not permitted in any food service areas (buffets and restaurants, the medical centres, child-care areas, corridors or elevator foyers, areas where Guests are assembled in groups for safety exercises, disembarkation or tour departures, public toilets, or in bars close to areas where food is served. Yet in the Top Sail Lounge which has a food service area an area is set aside for smokers. This area is totally open to the rest of the lounge and smoke drifts everywhere.Anyone like to comment? plucasana Posted October 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2016 I found that strange too. But the vent system actually works really well, so you don't smell the smoke in the left part of the TSL. I do prefer the American-Itinerary-smoke-free TSL though!!!
deliver42 Posted October 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2016 Are you talking about the Divina, or European cruise? On the Divina there is no smoking in the Top Sail Lounge unless it changed in one year. At the 1 Pool, the port side is for smoking.
plucasana Posted October 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2016 I am of course talking about European cruises. There, smoking is allowed on the left side of the tsl.
stealthy Posted October 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2016 Yes it is allowed and yes I smoked there. My wife on the other side of the lounge could not smell anything and I smoke cigars. Seams that the ventilation works well. This was for a Med cruise last June. I think it's only when sailing the Mediterranean. The casino also has smoking allowed (or did) back then. Capricruiser Posted October 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2016 The YC Top Sail Lounge is smoke-free ONLY on US sailings. In the other areas of the world one side of the Lounge is for smokers but as mentioned above, the ventilation system sucks the smoke out quite nicely so those in the rest of the Lounge won't smell anything. My wife is a light smoker and goes to the smoky side only for her hit.
