BearPenn2010 Posted October 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2016 First The Ship is Beautiful...Clean...and Found All the Crew Members to be Very Nice... Embarkation was a Breeze...We arrived at the Pier at 10:45 AM and were on the Ship by 11:45...We were prepared for a nightmare from reading previous Posts...We had No Problems...We went and put our Backpacks in the room and met our Room Steward right away...Dinesh was friendly and and was calling us by first names the Very first day...We went to O'sheehan's for Lunch and by 1:30 we were checking out the Ship. We had the UBP and the Gratuities pkg...I Believe to be the 2 Best Freebies offered by NCL...We upgraded one Dinner at Maderno's the Brazillian Steakhouse which was Very Good...Only Ate at the Buffet for 3 Meals 1 Breakfast...1 Lunch...1 Dinner...Typical Buffet Food...This was my Least Favorite...Savor and Taste shared the same Menu's Daily...The Manhattan Room was also a Good Choice...For a Ship to have 4,000 people on board...Never had a Wait for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner...also ate at O'sheehan's 1 night...Prime Rib Night which was Good... During Sea days ...Plenty of Activities on board...many Bar's to choose from and seems like everyone had their Bar of Choice on Board...our's was Shaker's the Martini Bar...Pleasant Barmaids and Bartender's... Previous posts complained how Bad the Smoking on board was...I on the other hand Never had an issue with Smoker's...Sure there was smoking section's...I would say the worst area was in the Casino...Other than that Not Bad at All.. The worst area on the Ship was Deck 15 the Pool area...Seems like you could Never get near it...of course you had your Chair Hogger's but that's to be expected...The Worst part was you couldn't even get in the Hot Tubs...They have 4 at the Pool area that only fit 6 in a tub...Most of the Hot Tubs had about 6 Kids and 4 -5 Adults in each...Spice H2O had 2 Hot Tubs Adults Only...But Were Always Full We got in it 1 Day... Cruise Director Dan Dan was Great as was the Rest of His Staff...Capt. Kept us informed everyday of where we were...what was happening...even on Sat when we had Very Rough Seas heading back to NY... Getting on and off the Ship in Bermuda was also a Breeze...The Ferries to St. George and Hamilton were always on Schedule...Riding the Island Buses is a Must...Great way to see the Island on your Own...We did everything on our Own... Disembarkation...Also a Breeze...The Ship was Docked by 7:15 and we did the Self Assist where you take your own bags off the Ship and were off and through Customs before 8:00 AM...and in a Cab by 8:10... Overall a Great Experience....:)
Phil80041 Posted October 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2016 fantastic to here a good review. doing breakaway in February for first time and also first time on a big ship Pool area definitely seems to be most consistent complaint along with debarkation. Can you eat at the bar in OSheehans? Or have to be sat at a table.... Where did you eat lunches and breakfasts since you said you only did Buffet once each meal.... What shows if any did you do? And did you have reservations or wait in line for whatever was avaialble?

meatball_nyc Posted October 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2016 Welcome home and thanks for your review! I was watching the bridge cam on Saturday and saw the rough seas you were sailing through...lots of whitecaps on the water! We've been on Breakaway twice and love the ship :) Did you happen to see if Uptown Bar and Grill has turned into a Margaritaville? I've read reports that it had, and hoping it's not true. Deck plans on NCL.com still have Uptown listed on them (deck 16, starboard side) Happy Sailing!

C-line Posted October 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2016 Can you eat at the bar in OSheehans? Or have to be sat at a table.... We've eaten at the bar side of O'Sheenans quite a few times. Not right up at the bar, but at the taller pub tables and along the railing overlooking the atrium. The pub menu has fewer items on it than the restaurant menu, but still lots of great choices! luckyinpa Posted October 24, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 24, 2016 How was the weather Leaving and coming back to NY? We leave in 14 days and wondering if we need Jackets etc? leaving we didnt need a coat. saturday was super windy and u would need something if you sat outside. sunday i was ok getting off the ship but i was probably the only one in my small group not wearing a coat and the terminal guard even made fun of me. but for that walk i didnt really need it. most others did.
