cbCRR Posted October 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2016 As of about 2 weeks ago... While Carnival has not released information about the Carnival Dream's 2017 dry-dock, based on a recent press release the ship is scheduled to receive Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ in 2017. It is highly likely the ship will receive this feature in dry-dock, but Carnival has not confirmed the exact timing of the Dream receiving this feature. At this time, no other information has been publicly released about the enhancements or work that will be completed during this dry-dock.
Rare steve4031 Posted October 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2016 What is normally done to a ship during dry dock? I understand the primary focus is checking and maintaining the hull, but what's fine on the inside? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ekajun1957 Posted October 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Also the Dream has a propulsion issue that is going to be fixed during dry dock. That is major work I am sure.
maldenmusic Posted October 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2016 I'll be on the Dream about a month before her dry dock and then again later in 2017. It will be fun to compare the before and after.
Micahs Grandad Posted October 27, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Also the Dream has a propulsion issue that is going to be fixed during dry dock. That is major work I am sure. Will take the better part of the two weeks to get this done so she can cruise at normal speed again
Sitzmark Posted October 27, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 27, 2016 Does Carnival typically publish it's Dry Dock plans? The schedules are available in many places but I see very little about what they are going to do outside of the obvious.
poz222 Posted October 27, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 27, 2016 The major purposes of drydock is for the Technical and safety equipment and required inspections that can only be done on the hard while the ship is not in operation. In order for the ships to continue to sail and be insured, there are work and certifications that needs to be performed (every 5 years at minimum for ships younger than 15 years old and every 3 years for older ships). Engine overhauls, A/C upgrades, propeller cleaning, ballast and tank cleanings, thrusters, shaft seals, and bearings replaced and changed, hull, and rudder inspections, incinerator, funnel inspections, electrical upgrades, computer and satellite system upgrades.... the list goes on and on... Any "refurbishment" projects (restaurants, tile, bars, carpet etc...) are all secondary.... As far as specific "refurb" projects on the Dream, other than the BBQ, new tile, carpet and some kids club/o2 work not sure what else is programmed.
