Butterbean1000 Posted October 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2016 (edited) We always book a balcony on the Panorama deck when available. We enjoy going out to the balcony and looking down to watch the wake and look for flying fish, etc. This cruise will be our first time on a Dream class ship and are booked on the Panorama. Looking at pictures, it looks like the balconies don't really overlook the ocean, but overlooks a sun deck. Is this true? What are your thoughts about this? Thanks, Cindy Edited October 28, 2016 by Butterbean1000
coevan Posted October 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2016 only if your head is on a 90 degree angle and looking straight down. The ocean is right in front of you in all directions
13cheermom Posted October 28, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2016 You are correct about that on the Dream class ships, we have been on all 3 of the ships and you do have the lanai deck to contend with on certain areas. We usually get a balcony near back of ship where the lanai deck actually comes back in toward the ship. Then you still maintain a view when looking down at the ocean. Look at pictures of the ship to see actually where it starts to narrow again. We usually try to book the L-shaped ones at the very aft which are clear of the lanai. Since you mention front of ship there are probably the same areas near the very front of ship also.

Dream Class ships have them, and they ARE close to the water! Always a good cabin option, IMHO!:)

WayTooCool Posted October 28, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2016 We have sailed w friends who had the L shaped balcony - it seemed Thierry interior room was smaller, but balcony was awesome. So, it depends on how much balcony time you want; our friends enjoyed sea days reading and sunning.
