We are back from another great cruise on the Eurodam – Our third in four years. This time through Spain and into Gibraltar . We were last on her 13 months ago and there were many changes. We loved the refiguring of second deck and the new bar behind the casino --- It was a great place to watch the Steelers game, notwithstanding the outcome. We also loved the new televisions in the cabins, with the on demand movies, TV shows and daily menus. Best of all in the cabins, were the new USB ports on the desk and bedside. We also enjoyed the updated New York Pizzas. We ate lunch there twice and enjoyed the white pizzas and salads.

We were not as happy with the new breakfast menus, both in the MDR and room service. They are more limited and eggs benedict with salmon (my favorite) is only available by room service for a charge. I believe it is free for Neptune Suites and above. In its place, in the MDR, they offer eggs benedict with crab, which was good, but I prefer the salmon. We never took advantage of the new room service for a fee delivery options (Dive In, Tamarind and Pinnacle Grill), but it was a good option if one was so inclined.

There were also changes to the Tamarind menu, such as the addition of Peking duck and Soft Shelled crabs as appetizers and some new sushi options, including one with lobster. We had both the Peking duck and Soft Shelled crabs, and both were excellent.

Overall, the service was outstanding and many crew members remembered our names throughout the cruise. The first day, our cabin steward saw we were going the wrong way back to our cabin (after we got off the elevator) and ran after us to point us in the right direction. Laundry was returned within 24 hours and was done perfectly. We ordered a wine package and had partial bottles held for future nights. The wine stewards were great and no matter where we were dining, they found us.

Speaking of food, we didn’t' have a bad meal, although one of trivia buddies had two disappointing meals in the MDR. We either had room service for breakfast or ate in the MDR. Room service arrived on time (the earlier of the time range) and items that were meant to be hot were hot and those meant to be cold were cold. Lunches not in port, were either in the Lido, the Dive In or New York Pizza. The pizza was our favorite, even better than the Dive In ---- and I love hamburgers. Dinners alternated between the MDR and each of the specialty restaurants. Again, our favorite was the short rib gnocchi in the Canaletto. It is spectacular.

When we arrived in our cabin, there was an invitation for the Pinnacle Grill, together with confirmations of our pre-booked dinners in the Tamarind and the Canaletto. We were surprised, as we hadn't booked it nor was it part of any special booking. The invitation also did not indicate that it was a gift. Dinner was at the same time as one of our other specialty reservations, so we asked if we could move it, and they agreed. When we finished eating, we were asked, however, for our card to pay for the meal. We showed them the invitation we had received, which was different from the confirmation card you get the day of a reservation - I'm glad a brought it with me. We were then told there was no charge. We don't know why we received this dinner --- but we enjoyed it.

Overall, it was a great trip on the Eurodam through Spain. We bought future cruise credits and are starting to plan our next trip --- perhaps again on the Eurodam.

Great review :)

Thanks so much for sharing.

Not sure I am thrilled with the turn of events for the breakfast if it is not just the room breakfast menu but spreading to the MDR, but I guess we will make do ;).

Sounds like you had a great cruise - great to hear :)

I forgot to mention that we were offered 2 up sells for this cruise. The first for 799 pp from a VD to a Neptune suite and the second for 399 pp also to a Neptune suite. As this was a 7 day port intensive cruise, even the second offer didn't make sense to us. We had never been offered an up sell before. We were happy with our cabin - 6145.
