CruiserBruce Posted November 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) Welcome to Cruise Critic! If you look over on the portion of Cruise Critic devoted to Italy, located here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=595 you will see many discussions on hotels. You might want to tell us if mobility is an issue, as getting around Venice is a little more complex than your average city, particularly if you don't want to stay in the closest hotels to the port. There are a few hotels right there, but there are also some great places elsewhere in Venice as well. We like the Hilton Molino Stucky. hernando52 Posted November 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 3, 2016 My wife and I are in our early 70s and wish to spend a couple of extra nights at a hotel in Venice. Any suggestions? Hi Tomjab! We were in Venice post cruise this past June and we were delighted with our little hotel. We had specific requirements...moderately priced, European atmosphere, no bridges to cross with our luggage, close to water taxis and vaporetti, free breakfast, walkable or boatable to all major Venice sites....there are many wonderful hotels that fit this criteria, but we settled in on Hotel Paganelli. It's an old 17th century waterfront convent. We found it to be very charming and would go back there again. Online Reviews are mixed, but we found the hotel to be very clean, the front desk helpful, the building charming and the location perfect for us (close to San Marco). If you are looking for more, the city offers plenty to chose from!
navybankerteacher Posted November 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2016 Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth - on Schiavonne - minutes from San Marco, located right by vaporetto stop and ferry to airport. Lovely old palazzo, charming staff, comfortable rooms, included good breakfast and reasonably priced. We've stayed there twice.
