doghouse2 Posted November 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Does anyone know what is happening from April 11 to 21, 2018 on the Riviera? There seems to be a gap in the itineraries. Thanks.
bitob Posted November 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2016 Could be drydock or charter. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
doghouse2 Posted November 19, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted November 19, 2016 That's what I thought. Thanks for responding.
Rare cruisingxpert Posted November 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 19, 2016 I'm pretty sure there was a thread last year about a private charter of Riviera between the last Caribbean cruise of the season and the crossing from Miami to Barcelona. Maybe they have a private charter again.
doghouse2 Posted November 20, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted November 20, 2016 Thanks cruisingxpert. This schedule gap is post Barcelona after the crossing.
Hambagahle Posted November 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2016 We were on Riviera in April 2015 for the TA which ended in Barcelona. The ship was headed same day to Marseilles for drydock. Very probably this is the same case in 2018 since drydocks are usually every 3 years.
doghouse2 Posted November 25, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted November 25, 2016 Thanks for the response Hambagahle. There is only a 10 day gap and thought drydocks were usually longer. I just wanted to make sure there was not a potential add-on cruise segment after the transatlantic.
arima22 Posted November 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2016 Marina went into dry dock May/June 2016 for 10 days. Last stop was Lisbon where they immediately took on 100's of workers, sailed to Cadiz for the dry dock and interior refurbishing, back to Lisbon on the 10th day. Ship looked great. Hambagahle Posted November 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 28, 2016 If all they are doing is "refurbishing" then 10 days is plenty. That is what Riviera had in 2015.
doghouse2 Posted November 30, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Thanks to all of you who replied. I didn't realize the drydocks could be that short but good to know. Glad to learn that Oceania refurbishes its ships that frequently--even if it might be minor updating.
