nojoke Posted December 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2016 We mostly sail on Celebrity and find that we rarely are able to receive onboard credit for owning RCCL stock. Is it equally difficult on RCCL or is it usual to receive onboard credit for owning RCCL stock?

Most likely more difficult on RC. Shareholder benefit cannot be combined with a great many things. Ichiban Nekko Posted December 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2016 We followed the instructions on the Investor Relations page at the RCCL website, submitting proof of ownership with requested info (Name, sailing, etc). Received reply by return e-mail same day. It was very straight forward. When we board the Grandeur we will check to ensure that the credit flows to our on board account. If there is an issue, we will have paper copies of the correspondence for follow up. We have used shareholder credit on most of our cruises (including HAL with CCL shares) and do not recall ever having to follow up. It's a great non-taxable benefit!:)
138east Posted December 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2016 The big blocking factors are the balcony discount, OBC from Royal, and certain promotions. You can forget the benefit if you book a balcony or above. You can forget the benefit if Royal gives you OBC as part of a promotion. However, it is possible to have the OBC removed so that the stockholder benefit can be used) If you book under a promotion (and promotions are there constantly), you need to ask when you book whether the stockholder benefit is excluded. gibsonsgolfer Posted December 30, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2016 RCL has not been a good investment for me over the last two years, and, I have been denied shareholder credit each time I have applied with the reasoning being I already have a good price for the cruise.
