Sweetpea711423 Posted December 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2016 Hi. My husband and I will be on a Silversea cruise from Rome to Venice for 9 nights in April 2017. There is one formal night. It happens to fall on my birthday. I'm thinking that it might be nice to go to Le Champagne for a celebration. Would my husband be able to go wearing a blue blazer with tan pants and a tie, or would we be banished from locations that require formal wear? We don't want to take a tuxedo for just one night, and he doesn't own a dark suit. Thanks for your help.

Have a great time.
easyboy Posted December 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2016 Don't worry. You won't be turned away at the door. Just enjoy the night. It's your birthday. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Emtbsam Posted December 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2016 I wouldn't give it a second thought! So long as he has a necktie and a jacket, no one will notice since all eyes will be on you! Have a wonderful trip and a truly happy birthday.
wripro Posted December 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 20, 2016 I agree with all the above advice. I stopped bringing a tuxedo years ago. Times have changed.
Sweetpea711423 Posted December 21, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted December 21, 2016 Thank you, everyone, for your helpful and thoughtful responses. With your encouragement, I will dare to venture into Le Champagne for my birthday without truly formal dress on a formal night! Keep your figures crossed that I'm not made to walk the plank! ShotsnCruises Posted January 1, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2017 How do you know which nights will be formal? I am trying to plan for my upcoming SS cruise and cannot find this information anywhere?
itzfitz Posted January 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 1, 2017 Shots If you go to MySilversea and pull up your cruise you will find it when you click on Shore/Dining/Spa. You will see which days are formal. Hope this helps. Fitz
Stumblefoot Posted January 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 2, 2017 How do you know which nights will be formal? I am trying to plan for my upcoming SS cruise and cannot find this information anywhere?unfortunately, it's impossible to tell. My Silversea told us 1-night and we had 2-nights on our 7-day Caribbean voyage. Just be prepared is all I can say. Sweetpea711423 Posted January 14, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted January 14, 2017 As others said, I looked at My Silversea, and it indicated which night was formal. We leave on the ship on April 22 (if my memory serves).
Camillus112 Posted January 14, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2017 It's your birthday, sweetpea, you can dress to the nines if you so wish, let your husband dress to the minimum requirements of the dress code, if he so wishes... You just have a good time. I always overdress and don't care if my husband doesn't. I just love to dress up!! If you do, you will find many ladies doing as much. mwayman Posted January 15, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2017 All he needs is jacket and a tie. Be sure to make the reservation online the day booking opens. Sent from my iPad using Forums
les37b Posted January 15, 2017 #14 Share Posted January 15, 2017 Did that, doesn't tell me! :-( EDIT: I found it! Thank you! Good stuff... For anyone unsure.... its in "activities" of your cruise booking and shown in the left hand column with the date. Its showing up fine on my next, but the one after thats 160 odd days out isn't. I suspect it appears on 120 days.

I read your response to my husband, and we both laughed. I will indeed dress up. I love it too. Who cares if my husband thinks that putting on a tie is the ultimate sacrifice!?!
