NavyCruiser Posted December 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2016 Just saw that there's a Habana cigar bar located on Deck 4 on the Freedom. Can anyone who've recently sailed on her pls let us know if cigar smoking is allowed in there? Thanks, PS: this is a simple question, so Please, do not turn this into a smoking/anti-smoking post. Thanks,
CarenBear Posted December 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2016 We were on the Freedom Feb 2016 and there is NO SMOKING at all in that bar. They use it mainly for special functions now. We were told that all the ships have stopped cigar smoking in the "cigar bars". My husband was really bummed about that change. NavyCruiser Posted December 29, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Thanks for your kind replies. Looking at the Habana bar pictures, http://www.cruisecritic.com/photos/ships/carnival-freedom-374/havana-bar-162766/ There's lots of cigar theme items in the bar. We're not everyday smokers, but do like to enjoy some premium cigars while on vacation. So its seems pretty silly to still retain the name & decorations of a cigar bar, but no cigar smoking allowed...
easyboy Posted December 29, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2016 You are right. About time they change the name.
doneinne Posted December 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 29, 2016 That is pretty silly not being able to smoke in the cigar bar. I agree on the need for a name change Sent from my iPad using Forums
JoeSmooga Posted December 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Confirmed. No smoking in that lounge any longer. We used to play cards and have cigars in there until the wee hours of the morning... not so anymore. This lounge (as well as similarly located lounges on the other Conquest Class ships) were made non-smoking when the public internet cafe was placed just off this room, port side. In order to get to it one would need to walk thru the areas where someone could potentially be smoking... no other public entrance. If you go thru there you will notice the air cleaners, while idled, remain installed to this day.
KPfromCT Posted December 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2016 DH is a cigar smoker too. Although he doesn't mind smoking in the smoking section. Cigars are allowed in ANY of the outdoor smoking areas. I don't think they're allowed in the Casino, but am not 100% sure. Also, I know John Heald was trying to start "Cigars Under the Stars", where one or two nights on the cruise, Serenity would be opened up for cigar smoking. Not sure if it's happened yet...... Computer Nerd Posted December 29, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2016 Worse case scenario, cigar smoking is allowed in the outside smoking area on deck. On several ships they have made the smoking area really nice and you have the chance to meet and chat with fellow smokers on the cruise.
1gr8cruise Posted December 30, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 30, 2016 I smoke a cigar every day while on a cruise, I use the smoking section. I have never had issues in the smoking area. They call them cigar bars to be trendy, it was just a matter of time before they outlawed cigars. Maybe they should call them PC bars (Politically Correct Bars)!!!! Personally I have never smoked inside, cigars have huge smoke....doesnt matter what ventilation system they have....they never work well. Try to be courteous, smoke them outside.... Schoifmom Posted December 30, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 30, 2016 Carnival no longer allows cigar or pipe smoking in any inside venue (including the casino). It is only allowed in the outdoor smoking areas. DH hates that! He loved being able to smoke his pipe in the cigar bar :)
