Rare Morgsmom Posted December 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2016 Those of us traveling on the Equinox on 2 Jan (Monday)just got emails or texts regarding "intestinal illnesses" and "enhanced sanitation" at turnover. Can anyone on the current sailing comment? Thanks in advance.
ColoradoExceptInWinter Posted December 31, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2016 We are also on the January 2, 2017, sailing on the Celebrity Equinox, and got the same call/text/emails. FWIW, Celebrity Equinox had an excellent rating by the CDC for 2016, so hopefully the delayed boarding (just half an hour?) will result in a very clean ship. I'd still expect salt and pepper shakers, etc, to be in short supply the first first days of our cruise. That said, we would also love to hear details if anyone on board the Equinox now sailing from St. John to FLL would care to comment.

Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2017 How sad! We were in Antigua with this ship on 12/30. We had a blast with a horn war and cheers of "Happy New Year" back and forth across the dock as she sailed away! Hope the current sailing is nice and healthy! dodger1964 Posted January 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2017 We sailed on Summit 2016 Christmas cruise. Cruise before us had noro outbreak. I received email and voice mail warning not to come to the ship until after 2pm. We couldn't serve ourselves in buffet until day 4 (i think it was day 4??). It really wasn't a big deal...they had plenty of staff to grab our food and water/coffee at the stations. I heard there were many people that showed up to board at the usual early time and had a long HOT wait. I doubt all passengers actually had notification reach them...and I'm sure others got the notification and just ignored it and thought they could board at usual time. We had a 4pm hotel check out time and left our room at exactly 4pm! It worked great for us. here was the email we received: Dear Traveler, We are writing to provide you with important information regarding your clients booked on the Celebrity Summit sailingout of San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 24, 2016. During its currentsailing, guests onboard the Celebrity Summit experienced gastrointestinal illness. In an abundance of caution, we are conducting enhanced sanitizing onboard the ship and within the cruise terminal to help prevent any illness from affecting the cruise. Because of this extra cleaning and sanitizing, check-in for this sailing is expected to take place between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. We ask that guests not arrive to the terminal before 2:00 PM as seating is limited. land_8234 Posted January 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2017 I sailed on the Equinox in Feb 2015 and the sailing before ours had cases of Noro on it. Our boarding was delayed but when we arrived at the Pier it seemed no different than any other boarding I've experienced. It was organized and the line moved quickly. We were on the ship within 30 minutes. We had no salt & pepper on the tables, no menus and had to be served at the buffet, but overall I think boarding a ship that had had an EXTREME DEEP CLEAN is a great thing!!! Probably never been on a cleaner ship!! It just requires some patience and for some people that comes in short demand!
Medic5emt Posted January 6, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 6, 2017 Just an FYI. Central Ohio has a regional out break of Norovirus starting in the last week.
Silver Anniv Posted January 10, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 10, 2017 Just an FYI. Central Ohio has a regional out break of Norovirus starting in the last week. I was on the Jan 2 cruise and 4 of us from Columbus OH, we were not sick at all, but I do want to share a couple of things I witness within a few hours of being on the ship Jan 2nd. #1 was in the Oceanview Café women's bathroom and saw a Celebrity staff use the restroom and leave without washing hands! #2 a couple hours later, went to the Slushy Bar to get a cool drink and saw the bartender wipe his nose with his bare hand and continue to make a drink! I immediately left and didn't return the whole cruise. We called guest relations and they blew it off as no big deal. We were not happy with how they handled these two situations. and that's just what we saw, who knows what else was going on that we didn't see.
