Thank you. The best deal is Trinityreservations.com for Bayonne Cruiseport at $214 tax included. Country Inns comes in at $298 incl tax and Embassy Suites at $324 incl tax. All these include a room, cruise parking, and round trip port transportation.
Diane Rose Posted January 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Are these hotels close to transportation into NYC? We would like to come a few days early and visit NYC, maybe see a play and shop. Also, are we better off parking at the hotel or the port? Thank you. Diane

Also, are we better off parking at the hotel or the port? Thank you. Diane Could you provide more details? Hotel budget? Number of people? Exact dates? Can you be more specific about what you want to do in Manhattan? You have to find a balance of time, money and stress. If you stay at the airport, it will cost you $22-26/pp round trip and an hour+ each way to get into Manhattan via hotel shuttle, airtrain, and NJ Transit train. For your extra nights the airport hotels will charge for parking. If you stay in Jersey City, PATH to midtown or downtown Manhattan is $2.75/pp and 15-25 minutes each way, but hotels charge for parking. If you stay in Secaucus, you have bus options to Port Authority for about $4.50/pp each way and hotels don't charge for parking. Parking is another issue. IMO for a 7 day cruise it's probably worth it to pay the $140 to park at the port. You can disembark, hop in your car, and hit the road home. If you're on a tight budget, the Robert Treat in Downtown Newark has free parking and good access to Newark Penn Station for a $5.25/pp train fare to New York. We will be visiting 5/12-14, just 2 of us. I would say budget is around $200/night. I looked on Trip Advisor to check out Robert Treat and found Hilton Newark Penn Stn for $118/night. How long is the ride to NYC from there? We've seen the sites, so we're just looking to do some shopping and maybe see a play, then head back to the hotel. I do agree that it makes sense to pay extra and park at the port. Diane

Diane That's a great price for the Hilton NPS even with the $25 parking. The train ride to New York Penn Station is 22-25 minutes and there are 4/hr. There is also a skywalk from the Hilton over to the station. If you go downtown, you can take PATH for $2.75/pp. IMO this is your best option. http://www.njtransit.com/hp/hp_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=HomePageTo http://www.panynj.gov/path/maps-schedules.html

deladaff Posted February 9, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 9, 2017 OP needed info on Cape Liberty hotels and cruiseport. A couple years ago we stayed overnight at the Residence Inn near the Newark airport. Since we planned to drive to the terminal ourselves, we did not ask about shuttle transportation. A hearty breakfast is included, and there is a good restaurant for dinner within a ten minute walk. However, the parking situation at the terminal is greatly improved since then. If you change your mind and decide to park at the terminal, check out this info page: http://www.cruiseliberty.com/directions_parking.html
