Kristi Barber Posted January 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2017 Are there particular items that are good bargains in Roatan?
ekajun1957 Posted January 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2017 Don't know about how much of a bargain but we bought some marvelous chocolate at The Chocolate Factory, some amazing flavors. Also if you like rum especially spiced rum or rum cakes Roatan Rum Company is good, prices are normal but quality is very good.
ABQrobin Posted January 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2017 If you are porting at Mahogany Bay...go to the back of the cruise port area, there is a huge structure that has local vendors set up in small stalls. Buy anything there..... we collect Mayan wood carvings, lots there to choose from. WE also get coffee, really good stuff. They also have a few vendors selling chocolate made locally. bgupton Posted January 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2017 The market that you speak of are they really pushy or is it just a bunch of people coming together? Last March we went to Nassau and the straw market was awful! Screaming and yelling! I instantly regretted even walking into it!

They each stay in their own booths and you walk through at your leisure. Every time we have been there, the place was packed with people buying stuff, we had to wait in line at various shops to pay. No kidding, good prices!

RedRover96 Posted January 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 19, 2017 As aside note to Made in Roatan if you have any extra "craft" type items you no longer use they will gladly take donations. We were there 2 years ago, one couple had brought a whole suitcase full of craft items to donate. A good way to make sure you have space for the trip home and souvenirs! Rare QuattroRomeo Posted March 23, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Another vote for the Made-in-Roatan craft store! Such a worthwhile place to visit. The proceeds go directly to the artists and their families. If you want unique, really made in Roatan souvenirs, this is a good choice. Plus you can order from their website, too. I've used it a few times for jewellery orders and things like handsewn eye-glass cases.
