PVPs, upsells, and Premier or casino and other rates

I have booked with a PVP before, and never got an upsell call. I booked a casino rate cabin and got a call for a very nice upgrade... did not use a PVP. On another cruise was offered an upsell to a suite... no PVP... BUT didn't take that offer. And several years back, got a call from the person who booked my cruise, carnival rep. but not a pvp, right before sailing and upgraded us from a ov to a suite on the Sensation... for free...

So.. my question is.. for anyone that has booked a casino rate, particularly Premier.. have you gotten an upsell call, either with or without a PVP?

Also, for those not booked under casino rate.. when you got upsell calls, was it with or without a PVP? Trying to decide to book my next cruise on my own, as I do most of the time, or use a PVP that has been calling and emailing me over and over...

Upsells for us only when booked with pvp.

We've gotten upsells when we've been on casino rate. We always use a PVP. If memory serves...it's usually not the PVP who calls us with the upsell.

Same here, we called back once when we saw carnival called on caller ID. I told the rep it might have been an up sell call since we had a cruise coming up. The rep said they would transfer us to the up sell department or person, I don't remember which they said.

I book exclusively with a PVP. One upsell casino rate (PTC) for one of my Glory cruises. $70 to move from a 4A to a 6A. One upsell email for my upcoming Vista cruise when we had a 6A OV. Offer was to move to a Deluxe OV for $40, no casino rate.

It's only when you use a TA that Carnival can't contact you for an upsell. They have to go through your TA, so they in turn call you and get back to Carnival. Do upsells happen if you have a TA? Yes. As often? No. They want to hurry up and get their cabins filled as quickly as possible so they can move on to the next sailing. It's much quicker to contact the guest directly.
